Alternatives for forks

Alternatives for forks

Postby TB 78 » Tue May 08, 2012 10:29 pm

Hi all

I’m looking to make a few mods to the front end of my 2MA.

I would really like to change the standard forks for something a bit sexier without having to do any fabrication

Are there any USD’s that fit the bill? And will the wheel need to be changed?

Just install some cartridge emulators

I already have the emulators on one of the bikes, but I'm looking to 'upgrade' the other bike to a more modern front

Careful - very easy to upgrade appearance and downgrade performance.

The pre-USD R6 fork is as good as you get in a RWU.

The std R6 43mm fork is direct swap with the 1KT / 2MA front end.
Just need 2 lower bearing.

Somebody I know suggested Marzocchi (?) RS250 USD's with minor mod to stem, but using Rs's yoke and tc. I'm not an engineer so don't know what is involved in this process.

Anybody know if this has been done or even whether it is worth it?

Mk1 RS 250 forks are pretty poor, Mk2 are Showa's which are very very good. The drama with using that is the 20mm axle and the calipers. The Mk2 fork uses the 65mm bolt spacing brembo caliper and the Mk1 uses the 40mm spacing.
