Title: Replacement Mirrors
Post by: evan_calgary on June 12, 2018, 08:02:03 PM
Anyone have luck finding a good replacement mirror for the 2MA?

I do not have the originals nor did I really like the appearance.  The lazy offset plate seemed a bit dumb to me as well.

Are there any decent affordable mirrors out there that will bolt in the stock position without the stock offset plates or stalks?

These are a copy of the 1KT mirrors (40mm hole centres) but in black if they are what your looking for:

Same but cheaper from M&P

They used to have them in white but I wait and then no longer available !!!

I have a pair of these fitted at the moment.  I knew I was going to be taking the top fairing on and off a few times and doing this with the standard mirrors / plates fitted is time consuming and awkward.

I got mine from Amazon for £20, so the M&P ones seem good value.

They look fine and work well enough, although half the view is elbows of course, unless you move your head to one side a bit!

Quality seems good for the price - no problems with them at all, although they don't come with fixing nuts/washers - just the attached bolts.  Not a huge problem.

Both my 1KT's bikes mirrors have had stainless steel extension rods specially made to move the mirrors further out to get a better rear view.
You need 2 per mirror,my sizes are 40mm long and 15mm diameter, threaded internally at 6mm to match the existing mirrors thread size. Also one end of each rod is counterbored by 5mm to allow it to be screwed tight onto the mirrors stems.
You could also have them made out of aluminium but stainless never corrodes or oxidizes.
