TZR250 2ma
« on: August 20, 2013, 11:19:24 PM »
Just got my TZR250  running after purchasing a few years back, brakes don't work
and I want to check out the jetting as its got Nikon aftermarket spannies.
The brake hose appears to be blocked, can anybody recommended a uk
replacement, is it worth paying extra for Goodridge or equiv etc.
whats the best pads and source of good caliper rebuild components
Ive planning on building a supermono using a ktm640lc4 motor in a tzr250
2ma chassis, so I have acquired a few parts for that project, I had a rummage in the spares today and found a few calipers, the ones on the bike are black
and the ones in the spares box are gold apart from colour they are identical
did Yamaha change the colour in different years?
What jets should be in the bike for the Nikon expansion chambers, do they
run standard, reason I ask is I don't know if it was done by previous owner and
don't want to risk a seizure as the motor appears very sweet.)
The battery is shot, I see some people on ebay advertising "Battery Eliminators"
for the tzr250 I presume its like the system on Norton Commando's has anybody
tried and if so are they reliable and is starting ok?

Just get a braided hose,I use SBS pads and Norbo at RD LC Crazy can sort you out piston kits for the Sumitomo Calipers which are Gold colour standard.

Got Nikons on my 1KT,sound ok but do nothing for performance other than the powerband has been moved 500rpms further up rev range in short it starts later and ends later.I did go from 230 main jets(standard) to 240's and done trackdays with no running issues if anything I could go back to 230's as there is a slight hesitation around 6000rpms and by lowering the needle jet height it improves this hence why i think I could run 230's.
