This thread is supposed to be about both 2MA bikes but for the racer I am mainly sourcing parts. I have now bought 3XV wheels and brakes etc plus a 3MA swingarm. I had to buy 43 parts in total because the breaker in Japan insisted on taking everything apart.

I have no front end yet. There is an 3xv for sale but it starts at USD 500 and I could get an R1 2005 fork including brakes for that money. Which one is to prefer?

The front end of the the 2MA frame ?

If yes then go for the R6 43mm classic fork from end.
It is a direct swap from memory... just use 2 lower tapered bearing as the R6 steering axle is 30mm in diameter.

Unfortunately I am hooked on USD forks.

I think the benefits of the 3XV is that it fits the wheels I have bought, i.e. axle, spacing, calipers etc and I hope as well the steering head.
The R1 (2004-2007) is on the other side probably a much better fork being much later in design. Then it might be too heavy sprung with a bike weight 50 kg heavier and I don't know if they do weaker aftermarket springs.

The 3XV fork I am looking at has some dents and corrosion and could cost a bit to renovate as well. Is there a difference between 3XV and 3XV SP?

The ZX636R fork on my 140kg F2 is perfect though so it might work with an R1. I am rather heavy myself.

I agree but 3XV maybe more difficult to find than an R6 one.  ;D

Did some mending to the side panels. Not very pretty but strong and not visible.

What is the putty you've used? It looks like chewing gum - but I'm sure it's not. :D

It's epoxy. Don't chew on it or you'll never speak again.

It's the type of roll where the hardener is on the outside and you just knead it to start the hardening process, very convenient since it is viscous.

Now it is time for the bike in the background.

I have noticed that TZs have the rear sub frame higher and a tank with less height. Has anyone done a conversion of a TZR to get similar look?

That one looks great without raising the seat position. I assume it is yours? Isn't the riding position very low? On my bike there was a piece of wood under the seat.

Great and very fast progress Bngt! I was wondering if you would be so nice as to share some pics of your garage with all the special toys that seem to be in there!  ::) I am really enjoying seeing other peoples garages/sheds/places where valuable toys are kept and maintained!

   Cheers, Fanis

....well, yes, I have a TZR 250 3MA1 I bought in 2006 and haven;t done a lot on it. It is a non runner, but just last week I got the last parts for the engine, so if I get the time I will have it running soon! I was hoping I'd have it ready till the end of December, but obviously I haven't. If you think I am some kind of weirdo that likes to look at people's garages, well, I am! But here is a pic of mine, I hope you don't get offended, it;s not like I'm trying to hijack your thread.

This is an older pic, now it's more crowded! I'll make my own thread sooner or later, it's just that I'm kind of ashamed as I am not able to bring my bikes in the condition you guys do!

   Cheers, Fanis

PS: I've also bought a 1KT in December for 80€, it's a complete bike, previous owner says the kick starter won't go down, I guess it's the main bearings, or big end bearings. I'll find out when I get it!
