My 2ma is creating a lot of smoke both when stationary and on the road. I did all the usual checks on pump etc. and even lowered the transmission oil level just to see if it improved, it did not. So I stripped down the engine as I was told that is was probably the labyrinth seal. On stripping I found the primary side crank seal lip disintegrated and the O rings between the crankcase halves were not fitted correctly. Also there was a lot of oil on the piston skirts adjacent to the power valves. The chap I use for crank builds checked it over and said he did not want to waste my money as the crank/labyrinth/bearings etc. all seemed in perfect condition. Pistons, bores and rings are all perfect. So I have rebuilt the motor with great care, all new seals etc. including strip out and fit new seals and o rings to the valves. It still smokes as bad as before so the seals have made no difference. The engine starts first kick and ticks over perfectly and revs no problem but the world disappears behind it in a thick blue haze! Any suggestions gratefully received! Also can anyone tell me how the power valves are lubricated because am I right in saying that the outer crank bearings are lubricated via the gearbox oil pump, or am I talking bollocks? But if it does is there a bleed off to the power valves?
