1KT performance piston choices, need help.
« on: April 04, 2018, 03:26:12 AM »
I still need to order pistons for my race bike but I'm at a loss trying to decide what my best bet is and making sure what I order will work.

We've always used Wiseco's performance pistons in our race engines but it doesn't look like those are available, only the prox oem replacements seem to be.

How does worssner compare to Wiseco performance pistons?

If anyone could list part numbers too that would be a big help, I read somewhere on here about some 3MA and maybe DTR125(?) Being the same?

I need to get these in asap, only a little more than a month to race day, I'm way behind.

Thanks

Yambits has Mitaka, are super cheap, and deliver in like 2 days to Canada.  No issues with these pistons I have had/seen.  No need for freak out....

I have Mitaka pistons in one of my 1KT bikes and have also used osaka T.K.R.J pistons in a previous 2ma,both Japanese manufactured, also available through Yambits

Do not buy the cheap chinese piston kits (around 20-25) or you will kiss goodbye to your engine very quickly.

I took the barrels off in preparation, since I've also never seen the inside of this engine, i needed to know if it had been over bored, which it has. 57mm pistons.

I also figured out what to buy from Wiseco, which would be a 679M05700. (679M is the key and 5700 is the size) Wiseco's website doesnt seem friendly to PN. searches so I used a 1995 DTR 125 to find them.

Currently the bike has ProX pistons in it. But I would like to switch to forged pistons. If I wanted to stick with cast I could just re-ring the ProX ones that are in there, as they look great still.

Good to know that the Mitaka pistons are considered good, I still need to build my RZ350 at some point, it'll be a street bike so maybe I'll consider them.
