Lost the gear lever end en route to the Loomies ride out couple of weeks back - Tip of the Day - Carry a 4mm Allen key and a couple of elastic bands in the tool kit for a temp get-you-home fix, lasted fine for the 70 mile run home and didn't miss a gear shift once !

Measured up for a replacement following morning and it was finished by 0800 the following day - one-off design  :)

The following images show the temp fix, replacement part and then fitted to the bike. Done about 50 miles with it today, all good  (-P)

Whilst admiring the R Wossner pistons from the order organised by Jim, Many Thanks again Jim  (-P), I noticed that the pistons differ slightly from the worn ones fitted when I bought the bike.

Given that the bike came from an importer with no UK owner up-to that point, and from the state of the rear tyre, I wonder if it had seen an amount of track time and hence the differing pistons that were fitted. Could these be SP pistons or possibly just a later R piston perhaps?

Hi Thump,

A great read. I'm about to start my import project so some really useful info there that will most likely save me a great deal of stress, time and money so thanks in advance!

Are the chain sliders still available? That looks like a consumable that I'l likely need.

This aged well!  ;D

Approaching 4 years now and the total spend is 3x the purchase price.
