R1-Z Cdi unit . . what's the best fir my bike
« on: July 21, 2018, 02:54:00 PM »
Hello
I've just purchased a 93 model 3xc..... the Cdi unit has
3xc-00 sticker on it ...
Can I ask which spec this is .bhp ?
The bike I have ridden was in a restricted area and didn't get any where near a top speed.
Any ideas what I have bought.
It's being delivered on Monday the 23-07-2018.
Thanks

Hi,
Don't really know the R1Z that much as it never been imported to France !!!!

From what I know TDR 2YK, TZR 2XT and R1Z 3XC share the same CDI board with different curve and YPVS settings.

These CDI also drive the YPVS valve (not like 1KT or 2MA TZR250).

My TZR 2XT could run with a TDR or R1Z black box.

You can see the differences between TZR / TDR / R1Z

I compiled a model summary a while back from info at the yamaha parts site and parts manuals:

http://pure2strokespirit.net/redandblueftp/model_history/r1-z/r1z_model_history.html

Based on the part numbers for the CDI, all the 3XC1 & 3XC2 models use the -00 CDI. The 3XC3 uses the -30 which I suppose is the 'restricted' one to comply with the 40HP rule back then.
