Help - no spark
« on: June 23, 2019, 10:27:33 PM »
Hi all,

Thanks for letting me join.My partner has built me a 1987 TZR250 2MA and virtually eerything works now, but we can not get it to spark - we have just fitted a new HT coil as the old onewas showing the wrong resistance. The pulsar coil is showing higher than spc resistance - is this a likely fault an can they be purchased separately from the generator? Any other ideas or help would be gratefully received.

Hi,

Check according to the electric scheme...
 - loom for wire continuity,
 - kill switch => open to run
 - side stand switch (if any) => open to run (from memory)
 - side stand black box (also the neutral switch...)
 - coil resistance value
 - pickup coil
 - stator coil
 - connectors...

All is described in the workshop manual.

Report result test by test otherwise it is difficult to help...

Olivier.

Hi, Thanks for input - We have tested continuity - Kill switch bypassed, side-stand bypassed, neutral switch working and tested- circuit is intact and tested. Stator coil

A huge query is whether the CDI and stator/pick up coils can match. Stator and pickups are 1KT, whilst the CDI is 2MA - is this likely to be the problem? Pick ups appear way out of spec, but we are not sure if this could be tester is inaccurate as it may ot be sensitive enough.

All other electrics seem to be working fine.

Many thanks
