Back in the land of Brexit again

Time to prep the 3MA for the annual trip to the Spa Bikers Classic.

Time to fit the rebuilt crankshaft and assemble the engine double checking balance shaft alignment. I find that shading the sides of the gear teeth with a sharpie marker help immensely.

No real issues with engine rebuild apart from inlet rubbers getting a bit hard making carb fitting the devils own work, especially since I’m still using the 32mm 3XV SP carbs.

Everything else went back as it came off. I had to fiddle around with the bush I made for the 3XV gear lever which needed a mm off its length for the washer and E clip to fit. I made the bush blind in Oz out of stainless. Would have been easier to use alloy.

Oil, water and fuel and fired up second kick on choke. Nice and quiet engine.

Pick up rental van in Tuesday, load up ready for Hull Zeebrugge ferry on Wednesday arvo Sailing.

Can’t wait.

I plan to Warwick  ;D

Just found the 6EN11-## needles and needle jets I ordered too while I was loading. They were delivered to my sons and nearly chucked out with the rubbish  :o

Well Rui

Inconclusive. I did manage 6 out of 7 sessions and got about 25 laps in total.
All riding on the needle, bike refused to take full throttle even on a 210 main jet.
At that point it was too lean on the needle really.

I tried the 6EN11-56 needles and it wouldn’t even pull away. That was the missed session and a P2 needle jet, reverted back to Q8 and still wouldn’t pull away. Put std needle 6LO2? in and things better.

Came down from 230 to 210 mains but really ran out of time at that point. It needed the needle raising really.

Just happy to get track time. It certainly sounds like power jets might be the option for next year.
In the meantime I’ve built the std 3MA carbs up with 210 mains so I can try out the tps and air jet switching first.

Jesus Jools... its like a never ending story both for you and me...

I still havent tryed the "near" sp/f3 setup on mine, with the carb parts I have wich are very close to what you tryed.
I WAS kind of confident that these carb parts woud work well... but now... dont know.

It has been so loooong we started this 3MA trackbike setup, and still no decent bike... well mine´s quite decent after it gets going, but a track bike should also be able to take the sightening lap and launch after that...

Well crack it at some point...

Nice bikes this year as well Im sure, guessing the 3MA prevented you from taking pictures.

Cheers
Rui

Yeah, no pictures this year at all.
What I did note with those needles is that they are quite a bit longer than Std so they may need quite a large needle jet - say R-8 maybe ?

Anyhow I’ll start next year with almost stock OEM carbs with TPS and air bleeds to see how close they are based on the main jet sizes with the 3XV carbs.

Now does anyone have the resistance settings to the TPS at WOT as it will need to be adjusted when fitted?
