SS Ishii 09X
« on: March 26, 2020, 11:35:52 AM »
I came across an article on this bike in a copy of Cycle Sounds magazine from 1988. Sports Shop Ishii built the bike in an attempt to compete with the Honda RS125 in the All-Japan 125GP class, which had become practically a one-make event by that time. Although I don't know the rest of the story, it is possible/likely that this bike prompted Yamaha to reintroduce the TZ125 (4JT) for 1994.

Here is a link to the article, along with my own translation. As usual, I had to 'translate the translation', so have used a dash of 'translator's licence' in some places ;D .

I get the impression that SS Ishii got some help from Yamaha with the frame (and perhaps other parts) - it looks VERY professional for a custom-built one-off racing bike (note "Deltabox" stickers).

I had a look on the internet generally for further details of the bike, but couldn't find very much. There are a few pictures here: https://twitter.com/hashtag/ss%E3%82%A4%E3%82%B7%E3%82%A4

James
