I am currently running YZ125 flat top single ring pistons (Mitaka's) in my track bike.
Have a rough idea on the hours I've run on them.
What I'm keen to know is when I should be looking at a refresh?
Should I use the TZ recommended intervals?

Thanks

Hey Scott , what lap times are those guys doing now at Idube ?

Forget about km's or hours useuage , take the barrel off and measure the ring gap to know for sure , measure the piston clearance too .

Neal, Duncan Day and Lewellyn Puren (?) were running 52's but they haven't raced there in 3 or so years. All KZN racing happens at Dezzi now. Apparently MSA was giving them hassles about running bikes bigger than 250cc at iDube. Duncan says he used to run easy 50's the last time they raced there.

2008 when I won , myself and Hayden were doing high 49's , then the next group were high 51's to 52' then the rest varied . I'll tell you now , 52's are good times , 50's and it's like riding a bull how the bike wheelies , slides and how hard you brake . We used to lap half the field in the races , thunder dome was scary  and we used all 6 gears  .

I'll load a video one day
