Excellent! I booked myself into the faster group without actually thinking about the fact that I've never been round Cadwell before ???.  I'll therefore very much be needing someone to follow round who knows the place to figure out where it goes.

Martin's bringing the NSR-D350 too

Looking forward to it.

Anymore 3XV chaps fancy it? If you've never been on the track before this would be the ideal cherry popper! I guarantee that you'll love it. And you've got the ideal tool for a bit of track action too...

Cheers

NSR-D350? hmm, at a rough guess, and never having seen the bike, i'd say it's a rd 350 p/v engine, in a nsr chassis??? similar to the old yammagamma....

Just a quick update..... due to akward timing of the PB event I've decided to cancel :(

But on the plus side I have booked a place on the two stroke full day on July 23rd :)  more time to gossip and enjoy the day..so maybe I'll meet up with you guys at Cadwell in July? (loads of places left..so get booked! :;):  )

Nice to hear you're impressed Dave.... getting the motor in there wasn't too hard, the usual cutting/welding/fabricating, plus custom pipes etc... to get someone else to do it would cost alot, but I did nearly all of it myself. Compared to a 3XV it feels a bit sharper (mainly because the suspension's harder) but prehaps not as well balanced..or at least 'differantly' balanced is a better way to describe it (and it's heavier of course). Either way it's better than I am. (and I haven't the money for USD forks right now)

More details can be found here... http://www.nsr250.net/forums/viewtopic.php?t=4705&highlight=

I don't want to hijack the thread too much, but then it does have a 3XV kickstart...

As usual, Martin is being a bit reluctant to blow his own trombone: The NSR-D is absolutely f*cking great! The ingenuity and the 'garden shed' engineering is far beyond what most people could achieve with far flasher machinery I'd say. It rides really nicely, and having ridden it a fair bit on both road and track I'd say it was an absolute success in every department - it just doesn't feel at all like the frame and motor where not designed to work together. A splendid bit of kit in every way, really. Of course, secretly, the 3XV kickstart is my favourite bit, lol

In terms of how it goes, this dyno data illustrates things quite nicely I think:

Blue trace is an approximation of a (slightly under par) stock 3XV, green is my track 3XV, Red is Martin's NSR-D350. Grunty? Oh yes indeed!

A hell of a lot of work went into building it, but it's a wonderful use for an old 350 power valve lump - though the performance of Martins fettled lump is rather better than most 350s of course.

Cheers
