I have again been emailing Borut at Zeeltronic. Borut says he has the componant ignition parts available to fit a 3xv.

I know that in general people say that you can get good power out of the standard CDIs but I still fancy having a go at fitting one to a 3xv.

I have been chasing down some basic techy information regarding the operation of the air solonoids. Has anybody tested the air solonoid operation for themselves ?

Do they operate directly from the TPS or is the operation more controlled by revs etc ?

Also found this
Standard Ignition timing -
22degrees at 3500,
20 degrees at about 7500,
than a quick drop to 18degrees at 8000rpms,
where it levels off with 18degrees till 11.000.

I can measure static angle on my bike but does anyone have this figure already.

The air solenoids are activated according to RPM and throttle position to feed the 'right' amount of air to the mixer nozzle for various throttle/RPM loads. I suspect they are really more about emissions than performance though - otherwise TZs would use 'em, innit?

I've not pursued it, because when I was running the 28s they seemed to work fine as stock, but I'd imagine that you could just ditch the solenoids completely and run a straightforward single main air jet (shove a jet in the air feed pipe). You'd perhaps have to experiment a bit with jet sizes, and perhaps have to play about with needle position - or maybe even needle jets themselves - a bit to get the fuelling right on part throttle, but It would remove the solenoids from the equation completely - and thus simplify your task.

To be honest though I'd think it a lot easier to either just live with the high fifties you can get with portiing, pipes and the -00 box, or get hold of an appropriate sugo unit if you want a bit more.
