Ive just been offered a spr crank for £100, BUT it does need a rebuild.
Just wondering if it's worth it ? Ive seen crank rebuid kits on ebay via austrailia for around £330. but once ive paid someone to split and rebuid the crank for me is it worth doing.
I mean, how much is a new crank and what does it come with ? Dont even know how much it cost's for someone to split a crank come to think of it !!
P.s Has anyone got a picture of a spr crank so i know what to look for please.

If you are in the U.K. it'll cost at least £600.00 (VAT included) for a new one !!, and, you still have to buy the L/H & R/H crank seals seperatly, which is another £25 - 30 quid !!   :O
Service Exchange Parts, in Kegworth, Derbyshire, are currently doing a full rebuild on my R / RS crank, which includes replacing an inner-web / big-end pin, for £300.00 ish all in. If there's nothing wrong with the big-end pins on the SPR crank you've been offered, you're looking at a £250.00 ish bill for a strip, rebuild & parts. S.E.P. can rebuild both R / RS & SP / SPR type cranks & supply new webs / big-end pins for both, if needed.
See my thread titled "My RS crank is dead", started on the 3rd of Dec. '08 for other recomended crank rebuilders in the U.K.               So, in short, very definatly worth buying & rebuilding !! I wouldn't mind being offered an SP crank in need of a rebuild !!                          ( if anybody has a spare one )   :;):  :D
P.S. SP & SPR cranks, parts-wise, are identical.

This is a picture he sent me of the crank, im a bit wary of the rust. He said that it's only surface rust and it rub's off easily. I have no reason to disbelieve him as everything ive got of him so far has been good.
Although as it has not been taken apart to be inspected, so no one can know for sure.

JEEZO !! And I thought mine was bad with rust on the L/H side !! :O   Surface rust can be bead-blasted off no problem. By the way, thats an R/RS crank in the picture, not an SP/SPR crank !! I think it's safe to assume it's going to need a NEW L/H inner web as well as a full rebuild !! Get in touch with S.E.P. in Kegworth, as they can supply & fit new webs/big-end pins. If the R/H connecting-rod big end bearing runs smooth on the R/H pin, (lubricated !!), then you should just need a new web for the L/H side. As I said earlier, it'll be around £300.00  for a strip, rebuild & parts, including one new web.   :D

  S.E.P.s phone No. is :-  01509  673295.
