1) Knackered big end pins...

2) Turn down damaged pins and turn some bearing steel sleeves (Through harden before fitting)

3) Press fit and Grind back to size...

Hope it goes back together Ok.....  ???

Blimey.... you realise this means at some point you might actually have a running motor?

Good to see some progress :)

I guess the other option is metal spraying and grinding.

I have 3 LC cranks and they are all suffering the same problems - rooted big end journals maybe this is the answer although Yambits do replacement webs for the LC.

I watched my mate strip my crank down and it was quite interesting. The problems are two fold

firstly the excessive endfloat on the rods causes the edge of the big end cage to gouge into the journal.

secondly if stood for any length of time the condensation in there tracks along the needles and causes corrosion to the bearing surface.

So, if you plan leaving your bike for any great length of time fill the crankcase with old oil ! :;):

Good work, Honk. Nice to see that kind of innovation. Hope it works OK.

Jools. Can't remember if the early LC cranks are the same as YPVS ones, but if so, it would probably work out as cheap (or cheaper) to order a new Banshee crank from the US. I think we paid about 150/160 quid for a spanking new one for Martins NSR-D350 .

Cheers

Banshee cranks are slightly narrower across the webs as I understand it. Some awkward welding and machining required to make them fit apparently
