Hey guys long time since I have been here.   Have been busy with work and getting my life together a bit.

So it happens I got invited to race in the Support race for the Shanghai leg of the Moto GP.

I tested an R-6 (Rocket ship pretending to be a motorcycle)  the other day.

I qualified to get on the track and qulliafy for grid position.

The support race will be held on Saturday the 3rd of May. Big race is on Sunday the 4th.

So this is one of two remaining racing goals I had in my life.

Next year I plan to complete the second.....Isle of Man!
Maybe I can meet some of you there.

I fitted up for a race suit yesterday.  Being an old fart I went with the retro Yellow and black bumble bee color scheme.  Will have them in hand on the 25th of this month.

Got Sidi boots and Icon gloves to match being flown in as well.   want max protection.  Top speed at the SIC is 195 down the back striaght on the 800's (Which ends in a near hairpin turn)  I figure I can get close to 180MPH onteh 600

Man I have had a woody every since the promoter said I qualified to race. he he he

I spanked a few riders in practice yesterday so at leat I feel sure i won't be last ha ha.  But there are a few faster guys out there so should be a challenge to get on the podium.. though I think I really can.   I know them and I think I got a real chance.

Though they are some of thebest Chinese Super bike racers in the country.   I was holding my own.

Come race day I am 110% balls out going for it.

I figure I will never get this chance again.  So I am going for the win hard core.

I have tested  here locally and am getting used to the bike and today its raining and got invited to come test ran tires.

Good chance of rain on race day so I will take advantage of this invite and practice andget confident with them.

Thats great news Steve am I jealous.......................

Its a pity that according to local mags that this will be the last year at Shanghai for the MotoGP (or is it next year ?)

It seems the little yellow folk don't like turning up to watch bike racing, a bit like the Turks.

I suspect Qatar only survived because of the night racing attraction.

Good luck mate, we won't see it here but keeps us posted and get some pics up here.

Jools

Hi Steve,
I echo what Jools and Warwick say.
I have a 07 R6 on the road in Black, and wow they are rocket ships, get them above 10,000rpm and warp speed, and what a sound.
I hope you have a steering damper fitted to yours, they get squirrelly when nailing them, especially if there is a bit of wind.
Again all the best
Dont forget pictures.
Martin.

Wel  Iwent and tested rain tires today... tehn I came n and got the bad news.

Rossi , Capparossi and the riders are planning some sort of protest over Tibet.

game over!  Not only is the support race cancelled but they are talking about not even allowing the Moto GP to be run.

I hate Rossi and Caparossi for this.

Politics and Sports should not be mixed.  You in the West should not be so quick to believe the BS propganda you are fed. It's not like what they say.

I stand behind the Chinese government for stopping the rioters from killing the people they were killing (non Tibeten Chinese).  How can I not?  they were murdering people.  I saw it with my own eyes.

Just like I stood behind the US government for sending in troops to my neighborhood when the Blacks were killing us in the LA Riots.

If they do not allow the support race (The promotoer is over there begging them to keep it in the schedule)
And allow the Moto GP.............

I will get seats on the corner closest to the track and pelt Rossie with as manny eggs as I can carry and throw before they stop and arrest me

F**K you Rossi!

Sorry to hear that Steve!!
I take it that is just the supporting races that have been cancelled, as the official Moto GP website still has the countdown clock running for the Chinese GP ?

coming from N,Ireland I can sympathise with you on the politics and sport shouldnt be mixed.
as an upside I spanner at the Manx Grand Prix every year if your planning on visiting, or will you do the TT? I usually watch it also.
hopefully next year, if all goes to plan and the entry is accepted you should see a 3ma on the MGP grid.  :)
