If you mean the Aug 17th 2 stroke bonanza Glyn, then yes, I booked on last night. Gone for the fast group this time though :O. I figure that I have a rough idea which way the track goes now, and I'd rather be chasing, and hopefully learning from, the proper-fast boys than getting tangled up with the slower boys...

Guess that'll be me for the enforced lunctime group shuffle then

I think Martin77 and Simon (on the blade at Mallory last year) are up for it too. Should be a grand day out if the weather plays ball...

pilfered from the TDR/RGV/KR/RD  etc etc forums; (yeah, I guess I'll be there again this year...)

Hi all!

Alan and i have been sorting out the details for another 2 stroke trackday at Cadwell as per last year.

We have organised a date early this year as we want it to be 100% two stroke only!!!! 4 stokes only allowed if we don't get enough numbers or if your 2 stroke breaks down and you can't fix it in time. Telling everyone this early means NO ONE has an excuse for not coming!!

It will be on Monday 17th August 2009

The idea is that people can travel down on the Sunday afternoon/evening, have a meal and drinks in the bar and then back to your tent for a good nights kip before a day of razzing around the track. We thought a monday would work well as only one day off work is needed if you want to camp.

The meal and bar depends on getting confirmation of 40+ people camping. MSV are going to set up the website so you can pay for your camping/meal/trackday in one hit so no having to pay for camping when you get to the track.

Thanks go to Jason Kluger at MSV for helping us organise this again and thanks in advance to Andrea who will be sorting camping/bar etc.

Monday 17th August 2009

Booking now available online!

For novice group: www.motorsportvison.co.uk/sattnovice

For intermediate group: www.motorsportvison.co.uk/sattintermediate

For advanced group: www.motorsportvison.co.uk/sattadvanced

Pleae note there is a deal for people camping the night before. Instead of paying at the gate you can pay £14 extra on your booking and that will cover camping, a meal in the bar (scampi & chips, steak pie & chips or curry and rice) and a pint (fosters, strongbow or john smiths).

BUGGER !! I'm supposed to be working Up North again during the 2nd half of August !!   :(
I'll have to see if I can swap with someone for that one.

If I can get to it, I'll make sure I'm at the back of the novice group,
so the rest of you can have a good laugh at me wobbling round.  :;):  :D

Don't worry about it, as noted above I'll probably be joining you after lunch in any case

The thing to do is just take things at your own pace and relax. the more comfortable you get, the quicker you'll get. And there are no prizes for being quickest. It's all about the learning. And the good old fashioned fun that can be had on your bike when you don't have to think about pedestrians, the police, badgers, telegraph poles, skips etc.  And you can always do your own MotoGP commentary in yer lid of course

The great thing about trackdays is that you can really work on your riding because you are riding the same piece of (good) tarmac over and over, so you can experiment with different lines, braking etc. While you can't really directly apply all of the stuff you learn on the track to road riding, it does an awful lot for your confidence to know what the bike is capable of. And a reasonably well set up 3XV is capable of a hell of a lot more than you'd think. Even stock, as Eddie pointed out in the 'Newbie' thread.

If you can swing the time off, you really should come along. A nice day on the track is absolutely life-affirming .

I'll try & sort something out tommorrow. Is it worth me booking a place now anyway ??
Would I lose any money, if I cancelled early enough, if it turns out I can't go ??

They run big groups at Cadwell and places have only just gone on sale, so I'd imagine you'll be fine to leave it til you've confimred if you can get the time off. I think you generally lose a bit even if cancelling early.

Dunno. I never count 'em TBH - too busy poncing about and grinning like a loon... They start at 9-ish and finish at 5-ish with an hour for lunch at Cadwell, so probably 7 or 8 I'd think ??? It's plenty, believe me. I'm generally pretty knackerd and brain-frazzled by 4 O'clock in any case...

Hmmm... Cadwell... [insert Homer-like slavering noises here] - be criminal not to book this one.

Small tip - at the top of the mountain, between the crest and the first right-hand flick, on the left-hand grass, there is whats best described as a small bomb-hole. Stay out of it, cos it doesn't half have your nads rattling off the tank when you find it...  :(

Sounds like you know the place pretty well then, Malc? - the mountain section is just a bit of a wheelie-panic-induced blur to me.... Looks like I'll be trying to follow you around and get some advanced training in then. Perfect! .

I've worked out Cadwells approx. 325 - 350 miles from my neck of the woods.
So, as long as I get my moneys worth, the ride down will be worth it.   :D

Hehe, I wondered how long it would take for someone to pick up on that! I can happily say I've crashed all the way round Cadwell and back again! Great circuit though - always a pleasure to be there.

It would be criminal to miss the Cadwell 2-stroke day....get your Ma to write a sick note, sell your Granny, do whatever,  but don't miss it.
I'll be there on my std 3XV and un std 350N in the inters group.
It's a right good chuckle being at the track with a group of like minded 2t fools.... And Cadwell is designed for the 3XV- std or tooned!  :D

I'll probably find myself sitting trackside at some point during proceedings too, Ian, so at least you'll have some human company too :D. Looks like it could be quite a 3XV fest then. Excellent!

Got Anglesey booked for me and a mate - I'll be bringing the 3XV but going to bring the NC30 also cos if I cannot get some cheap bodywork for the TZR then I wouldn't be too keen on using it on a track I've never been to before.

Yes. TZ glass might be an option for you, Malc. Does fitting involve cutting stock parts, Glyn? Or did you make up new brackets from scratch?

I've emailed my mate who was looking at doing stock bodywork copy stuff in 'track' and 'road' formats, but he's not got back to me yet. I'll give him a bell over the weekend if I get chance and find out whether he's going ahead with it.

That'd be handy Warwick, nice one. If you have no luck, and can trust me with it, I can ask a mate in Bournemouth to have a go at it also.

The only bracket I modded was the front bracket but the rest fitted straight on. And the rear sub frame was remove and a bracket made for that.If you run a 120 front then you will have to mod it to miss the tyre.
