Hi,

Has anyone fitted an alternative front end or have any suggestions?

RS250? 07/08 R6? 09 zx6r?

Alternative rear end suggestions would be good too?

I'm considering building a rolling chassis atm with a decision being made about what motor to fit later. I have some Ohlins R&Ts for my gixer (and OZ wheels to go with) but obviously this would be a stupid idea! Wouldn't it?

Thanks

TZ?

Is that an offer ;)?

I guess I should really make a decision on the motor first. The original plan was to just build up a chassis, fit some TZ race fairings and then transplant the motor and clocks etc out of my complete R. But then the suggestion of fitting a 4-stroke motor was made (I know no one else who runs a 2-stroke road bike so they are all philistines) and now I'm unsure which way to go. I figured to just go as modern as possible with the forks and worry about getting them reworked later if required.

Thanks

No, sorry, not got any about my person...

Terrible waste to but a big single or something in it though I'd say - unless you're going supermono racing or something. If you just want a really quick road/track bike, have you thought about a TZ motor? Or just a hotted up 3XV one (Sugo type set-up or a TZ top end conversion?) Possibly more expensive (though that depends on how straightforward a differnt motor transplant would be). And you'd also be fine to run the stock running gear then too.

But then I am very highly biased towards strokers of course. Good luck, whichever route you decide on. :D

tz 4dp rear shock fits........ohlins after 94....

then an '08 tz front end with radial calipers, and the 10 spoke marchesini's....and fairing / seat unit

fit a hotted 3xv lump to keep the chassis balance, and ...

perfect..........

The TZ route seems popular, I should've guessed really!  :D

Interesting that one goes the TZ motor/TZR chassis, and the other the opposite way around.

And see, now that I speak to sane people who love 2-strokes the idea of building a 4-stroke that wishes it was a 2-stroke seems more and more like a stupid idea.

That'll teach me to discuss anything 2-stroke with the uninitiated!!

Thanks for talking me down from the (4-stroke) edge, you almost had a 'jumper' on your hands. :)

Glad we could be of service, lol :D

Either way would be good, but I'd keep the 3XV stuff unless it was going to be purely a track bike. Lightweight race wheels might not really be robust enough for pothole riddled spring roads :O. And I'm not quick enough to get any benefit from using the TZ stuff on the track either I'd think. Still curently using stock R suspenders for and aft on my track bike - and it's still a lot better than I am.
