Looks like the prices have actually come down a bit from when i got things priced up.

If you look at the top topic on this forum
(3XV compatible parts list) on the first page.

I loaded up a selection of drawings with parts numbers and approx. prices, that was about 2 years ago, so things are looking slightly cheaper now.

I actually bought my top end rebuild stuff from Tomohiro, when he was based in Poland, and it saved me about £100 including the postage.

Strangley the only thing that was more expensive in Poland was the gudgion pin!

Hope this helps.

To me, it looks like what the Americans pay in Dollars, we in the U.K pay in Pounds,
e.g., what costs 320 dollars in the U.S., costs us £320 in the U.K. !!
Rip-off Britain is alive & well !!

Quite a bit of that stuff isn't strictly necessary for a 'budget' top end rebuild though to be honest. I've never replaced the exhaust gaskets for example (and pattern types can be had much cheaper in any case of course if you must). The PV seals too are usually OK to re-use. And, perhaps more controversialy, I've recycled both head and base gaskets without problem on countless occasions. I also keep a big bag of M8 copper washers to hand. And unless I need to do anything with the cyls or heads I generally leave those bolted together to save on new head gaskets on R models (on SPs the cyl to head 'O' rings re-use well too, but they are in any case much cheaper than the R type head gaskets)

Much of which though is to do with personal 'standards' I suppose, lol, but I've never had any problems arise from a 'budget' rebuild I have to say - apart from the time that desperation to get it going again led me to re-use a couple of gudgeon pin clips, ahem :O.

It was quite cost effective to get stuff from the US in the summer when the £ was strong against the $, but is probably much less so now. And you have to cross your fingers that the customs boys don't pick it all up too of course...

Did I mention I was from Yorkshire

Warwick.
My exhaust gaskets were as rough as a badgers a#*e & leaking oily gunk everywhere !! Tried twice to open them up to improve the seal, but wasn't completly succesful !! If I have the bike long enough to do another top-end overhaul, I'll keep the heads on & reuse the base gaskets. After this monumental overhaul is completed, I dont want to have to do ANYTHING on her for a couple of years !!  ???   By the way, examined the old pistons top ring pegs with a X2 magnifier, compared them to the new ones & the old ones looked fine to me !! The old ring gaps were at least 0.45 mm. The new ring gaps is a gnats under 0.40 mm. ( Measured with the rings 20 mm below the top of the cylinders. Is this the right place ?? ).  The bores are both under the 56.02 mm upper wear limit, measured at the same height from the top of the cylinder. New piston to bore clearance is also within limits. ( measured 15 mm up from bottom of new piston skirts ).
