A mate of mine is looking at producing some replica fibreglass 3XV fairing panels. Tail units would be single seat type - as on my track bike below:

He's also looking at developing a more early shape Aprilia RS250-esque tail unit too.

Sides and V peice would likely be plain copies of the oem parts (with the SP air ducting as extra if wanted).

Upper would be in track (no headlight hole) or standard configuration

It'd be produced in the UK, but I'd imagine it'd be no problem to ship overseas - might be pricey, mind?

Obviously it's quite a lot of work/hassle/expense to get the molds laid up, so he asked if I could get an idea of how much interest there would be to see if it's worthwhile.  So let me know if you want it, OK?

I've no idea on prices yet, unfortunately. It'd prob depend to an extent on how many he could hope to sell.

Cheers

Wb

yes mate like the idea but the cost would be needed! (lack of funds, technically unemployed at the mo etc)
also i'd like a copy of the 'carbon vented' front mudguard (seen on many a tzr) in fibreglass if possible?
basic white? (so can do a copy of my avatar :) )
for road use (front light hole please).

Twice? Blimey, you must be really keen, Ian :D

Forgot to mention that he's talking about doing the seats both with and without the tail-light hole, so the 'holey' one should be fine for a road bike. ie: a straight bolt on 'road' type single seat unit.

Nothing definite so far though, so please don't shoot the messenger if he decides not to go ahead with 'em.

Cheers

Wb

Thanks Warwick.  I'd be very interested in a "holey" single seat unit for the road for now.  :D  Was quoted £175.00 for the genuine
Yam. pillion cover by Webbs in Lincoln last month :O, so a pattern
single seat unit should be a good bit cheaper, hopefully.

I'll definitely have a 'road' seat unit.... But I might be tempted by a full track kit as well at some point....

:D Just trying to prod you along a bit, Adam. Judging by your usual standards it'll be a Proper Job alright when you do get it finished. I'm just itching to see it done really. I really like to see nice ones, but I just don't have the facilities/time to make/keep any of my bikes that nice. But that's just country life for you really - 6 months of thick mud and dead badgers smeared across yer rad' and a couple of months of the perfect rural idyl (though we seem to have missed those this year somehow...)

Keep on keeping on...

Hey Warwick.
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the rural idyl, ( was brought up on farms ), & ditto about the weather. It's been TERRIBLE this year in my neck of the woods too !! :(

I've just fitted some 2000 TZ250 race glass side and upper fairings. The tail unit doesn't fit so I'd definately be interested in a track tail piece and probably some road sides and upper.

I'm toying with putting 3XV front plastics on mine, Andy. If I get on with it over the winter I'll post up pics and descriptions etc. I'll ask him about 3MA plastics though. My own 3MA fairing is a fibreglass set (lowers being just two part - joining at the centre of the V rather than having a seperate V peice (much quicker to remove than the stock set up), so those might be easy to make a mold from? I doubt he'd be up for it though as 3MA plastics are even more, er, 'niche market' ??? than 3XV stuff, so they'd have to be prohibitively expensive if he was to recoup the costs of making up the molds I'd think. What seat unit have you got on yours? It's a single seat unit isn't it? He could maybe be talked into doing a mold from that as I reckon he could flog a few of those if they fit without hassle to the stock bike's subframe?
