Well, here I am, writing about my first road bike i bought when i way 16. I'm now 36. Wow, 20 years is a long time!!
It was my daily driver for 10 of those, when I commuted 260kms a day from the Central Coast of NSW to Sydney. A couple of trips to Bathurst and Phillip Island for the final 500cc GP, eventually clocking up over 65000 kms.
Along the way was an impromptu top end rebuild after lack of maintenance broke a ring, a gearbox fault where it continually jumped out of first gear, a clutch slipping issue under power and eventually a missing cylinder on first startup as well as wet conditions. Needless to say, the rebuild is well over due.
I started dismantling 8 years ago, when i had some time. Since then I've moved 4 times, found a bird, had 2 kids, bought a house, bought 4 more bikes, and havent looked at it since due to lack of shed space. Now, I have a shed, a reason to 'get out of the house', and a bucket of bits.
Now for the fun part - putting it back together.....
Looks like a good candidate for a re-build! 65000km is a stretch for a 2t motor so I assume a motor overhaul from the bottom up?
great bit of history with it and memory's
give it the time and love it deserves as its been abused and left for 10 years waiting for you !
lol
