Title: Should I stop? 2ma to 2xt
Post by: SeaR1ck on November 03, 2013, 07:43:10 PM
Finally got reg'd! used to be on old forum

I need to know if I should stop doing what I am cause it doesn't sound like I can?

Long time project '87 2ma canadian model bought some 2xt parts thinking I was gonna upgrade the center cases reed blocks and jugs and a oem piston kit.

Studying the parts diagrams I couldn't find many differences in parts #'s in the motor but correct me if I am wrong but reading through some older posts. I am reading I cannot use the 2ma's power valves with the 2xt jugs and something about the carbs slightly different as well and with some of the electronic bits.

So before I go and tear down the motor I wanna know if it's worth my time to try and do this not sure I really wanna try and source the other parts from japan. Have two 2ma/1kt motors and a spare 1kt jugs set  and has me thinking I should just rebuild the 2ma motor and give up trying to put the 2xt parts on it.

With the 2MA/1KT electronics, head and carbs..., you could use 2XT parts like:
- crank cases
- reed bloc
- cylinder

You may need to adjust carb settings... check my page...

Thanks cause all I have are those parts, now I can get on with it then and back to my orginal idea of putting one of them spare 1kt motors into a TDR.

What's the difference between the 2xt and 1kt thrust washers on the crank? it's the only part # difference in the crank I couldn't detect any difference in the heads same part # just different colours grey instead of black. I can't recall if I have some 2xt  pv ypvs drums I think I do.

If you see errors let me know I'll correct.

You will need 2xt power valves and pistons to use the 2xt cylinders.
