Hello,
Trying to get rid of the key operated tank opening and some weight, did anybody ever try fitting a 2KM or maybe 1RK tank to a 1kt/2ma?
would be a good weight saving with a tz ally tank. I assume you have one already? if not good luck finding one!
2ma and 1rk chassis are very similar but you would have to make up a new subframe as the tz tank is shallower and the bottom will sit higher up the frame. Best thing to do would be copy the 1rk subframe and build a real nice tz rep.
I am still pushing on with the alloy replica 1KT tanks.
The 2nd one came a couple of weeks ago. Build quality much better than the first.
Still not perfect shape though but it is symmetrical.
I will send them feedback on it and then wait another 3 or 4 months.
here a project of TZR250 with 3MA tank custom rear sub frame and OW76 fairing and seat.
From memory, FZR400 1WG rear arm with custom chain adjusters...
Project starts with 1KT frame and ends with 2KM one.

Hi all,
Thx for the info, never had a 1RK or 2KM tank but some do pop up for sale now and then. Making stay's and brackets is no problem. I would like to know more about the alloy replica tanks once info is avaiable, keep me posted please.
OK. Will do.
Here is a pic of the tank fitted.
The problem it has is that the lower edge of the tank is not parallel with the frame at the lower part of the tank.
The front is good though. And it looks great polished.

That looks nice, almost a pitty to put paint over it
Expected price for that alu tank?
I'm doing TZR50 tank conversion...
Not sure I'll save weight but 13l will be enough for track day sessions.

Okay untill the alu tanks go into mass production is there a replacement tank filler cap that we can use that does not involve a key to open it that can be forgotten at home when you at the track?
something like this:

all R6 , FZR product is okay !

Most of the style in the link from Tom Mac will fit as yamaha tanks are pretty generic.

I am absolutely in love with this bike.
