Title: Help with Paint please
Post by: rc46 on January 14, 2014, 11:56:41 AM
Chaps,
I am painting my own bike, i have some race fairing now thats plain with its Yamaha stuff from a TZ250 U so has a coat of shinny stuff on it, but has a few chips out the coat,

I can get an even coat with either spray gun or tins of paint as i have done it before but i want to go an extra step and prepare the plastics right and once painted put a gloss/lacker finish on, Any tips and hints on ....

Prep of Plastics prior to paint
actually painting and paint to use
Finsh of paint...
And should i stick decals on prior to lacker or when im finished?

Not looking to start for another few weeks but be good to read your ideas, tips and tricks,

Thank you O0

Use plastic primer
use  2 pack paint (you can still get it)
then fit transfers
then laquer to finish (use plenty..) do it over a few days

You should use this  between each layer dried to break the gloss, so to have a good grip

Have a chat with the paint supplier , we flatten everything again before the final clear coat is added
