Received today, many thanks. Top quality as well and a nice match to the Yamaha red.
I also had the BWC1 paint delivered as well. I will spray up the cowl, apply the decal then lacquer it.
I am right that you lacquer after applying to stop them lifting?

Where do you get the BWC1 paint from?

Ditto. Somewhere in the U.K. ? ? :-\ Could do with rubbing back & tidying up the painted on red graphics on my R/H fairing lower.
I got it from http://www.bike-paint.co.uk/ (http://www.bike-paint.co.uk/). It was £52.50 for the first coat, translucent top coat and the lacquer delivered. (400ml rattle cans (500ml for the lacquer)).
I was going to test it out last night but spent the evening at A&E with the 4yo. I will give it a try this afternoon and report back.
Contact Sarah via their website. Their comms are good and delivery was quick and well packaged.
(If it goes well I will have paint left and can spray up other forum members cowls in 93-97 white (you might want to check the quality of my work first ;) ))
personal choice on lacquering yanw.. not everyone wants that look. I'd had stickers on years with no issues. Unless its on tank or its printed yu really don't need lac.. Also easier when you scratch or damage that area - just replace, not hidden under layers of lac.
Best apply with a soapy water solution. Normally two small drops in a spray bottle will give you enough 'slip' to position the decal. Tape its position first with masking tape. Also make sure no silicone based polish etc is left on panel.. otherwise it won't stick!
Once fitted work all the liquid out using credit card or similar... Leave for at least half hour then spray top paper, a good soaping will break down the adhesive, making it nice and easy to remove - this method leaves the graphic in place... If you rush you'll make a mess.
For lacquering - leave for a few days in warm environment - this will ensure that the adhesive has cured correctly, Rush it and you'll have issues. Also don't apply a thick lac coat first off. Build it up. Otherwise this can react with decal. HOPE THIS HELPS. You may know all this anyway,
cheers

Many thanks for the advice, I know nuffin so all/any advice is good. To check, which side of the decal is the adhesive and which is the top paper? I am guessing the thick side with writing is the adhesive side but I am the grand master of the wrong end of the stick and the King of F*** Ups.
My little knowledge of spray painting comes from here: http://www.bustopia.com/vw-spray-can-painting.html (http://www.bustopia.com/vw-spray-can-painting.html). It's a VW forum but paint is paint, and those Dub boys love their paint.
Correct. Top paper covers the red. Underside will have writing on . Any probs pm me.

Thanks for the link, Yan. ;) How's the 4 year old & what had he/she been up to ? ::)
She is fine, a mild fracture in her wrist (no need for a cast) where her cock-end 8yo brother slammed her wrist in a door.
I have the first 3 coats of base on the cowl and it looks good. I might try the pearl coats this afternoon.
OK, sprayed up the pearlesent top coat today and the colour match to my original bodywork is good.
The only downside is that my basecoat was not that good and I didn't fully understand how translucent the pearl topcoat is. Once the pearl went on you could see some ridges and sags in the basecoat (not the primer, that went on first). You couldn't really see them before it went on but man-alive you could after it did.
I have flatted the cowl with 800 grit wet'n'dry tonight and I will respray with basecoat again in the week. I will flat the basecoat with 800 grit again before I reapply the pearl topcoat and see if the finish is any better.
You live and learn, thank goodness it's tiny and takes hardly any paint to cover it.

I need one. PM sent.
The pearl coat is on and looks nice. You cannot see any runs etc this time. I am going to let id dry for a few days and then lacquer it. I am not going to drown it just a few light coats.
Once the lacquer is dry, a week or so, I will put the sticker on.
I am thinking of lightly flatting the pearl with 800 wet&dry before the lacquer; does anyone have comments or advice on this?
Decal looks amazing.
Thanks James
Some pics, color is perfect
