Title: Replacement plastic fairing panels
Post by: bobbyboy on September 30, 2012, 01:16:39 PM
I've started a new business venture, commissioning a UK company to produce new plastic fairing panels, that are getting difficult to buy new/used.

It's going to take a while to get a large range of parts in stock, due to the setting up time of the tooling, and the cost of that tooling and stock volume.

These are not a poor copy, thin and flexy. They are an exact replica.
Same dimensions, same shape, and same thickness as original.
Once painted to your chosen colour scheme, the fit will be the same as original.
The only possible difference that will occur, will be some original fragile mounting lugs being improved with extra material.
This will have no affect on the fit, and benefit the life of the part.

I've now a website online, www.taffmoto.co.uk with the standard shopping cart and payment facilities available.

Presently, only the TZR250 3XV single seat cowl is available for sale, with TDR250 panels due before the end of November, so bear with me!

It's my first venture in retail and internet sales, so I hope to make it a success for you, and for me!

Brilliant idea.

On the site, you only tell plastic so maybe you should give more detail ABS...

With pictures of your products, this will help us (me) to promote your business in France where TZR (1KT or 2MA) and TDR riders are struggling to find descent fairing replacement for road going bikes (GRF one or OK for track).

TDR panels are good start for "French little Market" and will be pleased to help.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Best of luck.

I have one of the 3XV cowls and the quality is really good. The lugs are rock solid and mate up exactly to where they should. I have sprayed the cowl up with primer, base coat and topcoat and they have not melted or deformed.

Going by the quality of what I have got I would not hesitate to buy any other replacement panels.

I am keen on the seat cowl. Just had a look at your site.
I'll place an order in the next week or two - as I'll sort myself a temporary credit card.

Just curious - what colour is the seat cowl moulded in? - i.e. what colour is it unpainted ?
Thanks.

Hi Muz, they're black, as it's the cheapest and easiest to produce.
I did consider getting them coloured, but trying to match original panel shades would be so difficult, and I would probably end up having complaints about the colour match.

Now listed on Ebay to start getting that extra interest.

As well as the 3xv solo seat cowl, the TDR250 tank panels cowls are now available too.

My prices are higher on Ebay, due to having to cover the bloody expensive fees, so if your interested in anything, order via my website, www.taffmoto.co.uk

Yes, these and others will eventually be made.
Setting up time by the manufacturer and finances from me are the reason why everything isn't available now.
It's only a matter of time though....
Anything your particularly interested in?

Very interesting mate. It would appear that the fluted rear seat cowl for a 3MA is worth a punt. They seem to sell for about £90.

What about screens??

Good luck with your venture Dan

Cheers Dan, but I'd need to have an original cowl I can copy from.

The only ones I've seen so far are chinese copies, which wouldn't be good enough.

I want the whole bike not just the panels ;D
Was very lucky when I was in high school to have a neighbor with an NS400 that I rode occasionally.

What a machine!

All these and more are on my list to do, getting it done is another matter.....
The manufacturer is finding it difficult to produce my orders and others on time, so I may have to try another avenue to get new stock completed sooner.
