Title: 1989 3MA01 carb model identification
Post by: RMS on August 18, 2018, 09:13:12 PM
Hi guys, I'm trying to find out what model carb my bike uses and I'm a bit stuck.
According to the info I can find, it's supposed to be a Mikuni TM 32 SS, yet when I Google that model, the carb that comes up doesn't look like the one's it has?
Can someone confirm which one I have, and preferably where I'll find details on how to strip and service them?

Cheers

Hi;

3MA1 has 32mm carbs, 3ma3 has 30mm carbs, 3ma4 has 34mm carbs and 3ma5 has 30mm carbs. They are tmx flatside carbs 610 series.

Hi

I can not id your carbs I need to see the flip side of the carb. However even if you know it is 3ma1 they had two variances of jets in those carbs and you need to strip them to id the type you have. If the bike has never been tampered with you should be able to id them from the cdi and the barrels the 00 model was the first 3ma1 model and 01 cdi or barrels is the second model for the 3ma1. The manual does not exist on how to strip and service them. The only way is asking the guys on the forum if you get stuck.

Hi sorry to add a highjack question in.
I have engine casings with 00 and barrels with 00 my CDI shows 01.
My carb is a 32mm. Would my main jets be 150's or 180's?
I currently have the bike at standard just about everything with 180 mains but I cannot run the bike with snorkel's installed in the air box.
It runs too rich.
Could it be that I have the early model 00 that needs 150 mains?
Having a look at my vaj system the air jet sizes are the same as the 01 do they different on the 00?

Thanks
Nic

Have a look at your variable air jet sizes.

Air jet sizes are exactly as in the chart for a 3ma-01. And they seem to be operating fine if you test them with throttle twist before startup.
