Title: TZR250 2AW
Post by: kw86er on February 09, 2013, 10:58:42 PM
Well it is a project. I posted on here a few months ago that I bout this TZR 2AW. I have been posting project developments on 2 Stroke World.

http://www.2strokeworld.com/forum/index.php?topic=18181.0

But I thought I would throw some pics... up here since I might find some more TZR specific advice. I have stripped the whole thing down and I am about to order some new parts to have my crank rebuilt. I am going to need quite a few parts. I have been looking at Yambits, Wemoto and ebay UK. Any other recommendations? I also need some Power Valve parts if anybody has spare pieces kicking around PM me and I will pay a fair price for them. Specifically a left power valve and a center bush.

Here are some pics of the progress.

Yambits should have the power valve bits you want.

Interesting, it looks like the crank doesn't have a center seal. Is it not necessary on a parallel twin?

It is, and it does. It has a labyrinth seal between the inner mains.

Those are nice pipes... Do you know the make or any more details on them?

They are JollyMoto pipes. http://www.jollymoto.it/jolly-moto-eng.php.

You could go for Martin77 (forum member) pipes for your TZR...
Very good value for the money. Not yet tested on the track but the gain seems to be there.
At least 7-8Kg saved ;D

there is lots of good reading on the YPMRC site. http://www.ypmrc.co.uk/forum/

They race nearly stock tzr's. I have seen the Martin 77 pipes discussed there allot but have no experience with them. I got my pipes with the bike which cost me less than new jolly's alone.

So here is my engine parts list. It ain't cheap.

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B0X9vPLtpz7caDgycERjaEoxcjQ/edit?usp=sharing

Allot of it is Power Valve parts. I figured out what happened now and the piece I broke doesn't matter because that power valve was already F'd. The end bush on the right side had the screw tab broken off and allowed things to get worked around quite a bit. Almost all the parts are mashed now. I can salvage the one power valve and maybe one bush. If anybody has PV parts they don't mind parting with LMK. I don't mind paying a fair price for them as you can see what my alternative is.

I went with Wossner pistons. The Wiseco ones seamed to cover a wider range of 125 bike and looked fairly different, though the pictures on the internet could have been "not as pictured". The Wossner were more specifically for the tzr/dtr bikes and looked right in the pictures.

The gasket kit is noted that it is (*2MA only) but looking at the parts catalog for the 1kt and 2ma all the part numbers are the same.

I am thinking I might place my order tomorrow, if anybody can think of anything I might be missing please LMK.

The pistons you have specified are flat top, not suited to the standard 1KT/2MA/2XW/2AW cylinder head. Unless you plan to modify your head, you need to choose another piston.

You should use the 8002DXXX series...

Thank you for picking up on that. That would have been an expensive mistake, it's expensive enough if I get it right!

Wish I hadn't read that. These bikes are expensive and I haven't even touched the engine on mine yet.
