Title: 4th PV Spacer question
Post by: SouthCoastRich on June 14, 2020, 03:36:57 PM
My very last job to clean up and finish up my mechanicals is to replace the PV spacers and oil seals.

Bottom cylinder actuation side - 10mm & 5mm Hex and jobs all good.
Bottom cylinder blank side - water bottle moved and 5mm hex and all good.

Top cylinder actuation side - water hose moved and 10mm & 5mm hex and nicely sorted.
Top cylinder blank side - This looks tricky.

Looks as if I take off the lower carb and reed block to reach the lower 5mm hex??? No idea about the upper bolt though, airboxes off and from the tank side??

Anyone done this on a 3XV in the frame -  ideas?

I found the answer - leave the fourth one in the packet  ::)

No oil leaking from the PVs (or exhausts) so the bike is dry!

On to refitting the plastics today and a little project Yan and I have going.....

Here's what Yan and I have been working on.

Just swapping the domed bolts out for countersunk machine bolts and then the last step....

Decal from signomatic finishes it off. No longer recognisable as a Chinese fairing by the obvious missing part!

Yan's your man!

@yanw

(also - https://www.signomatic.co.uk/signomatic/decal - Impact Font 17px did it for my 84mm x 23mm, but I'm sure there's loads of sites in the US that will do this)

Not the decal i meant the piece that you made between the the two. How did you make it?

I didn't  ;)

Yan made this from the measurements I sent him. Fits really snug and keeps the tail tight. I've sent him a message, he can explain more  (-P)

PM me SeaR1ck and I can probably sort something.

It's 2mm ally front with a piece of 2mm steel at the back with a couple of M5 nuts welded on. The rubber spacers are a bit of silicone hose inside some hose I reclaimed taking the old washing machine apart.

Just to tidy up the "how to" that was the point of this post if anyone else needs to know....

You need to take the front carb off and probably the inlet manifold to get to this last spacer.
