Bit of an odd one this. I'm replacing the carb rubbers on my 3XV8 (RS) with some I bought off eBay. The eBay items also came with reed bocks and here's the pics. The one from my bike is on the left. The one on the right seems to have some really odd 2 stage reeds and much shorter guards. Anyone seen anything like this before? I'm wondering what (if any) difference these new ones would make. Are they designed for midrange I wonder? See pics.
Bit of Googlenomics and these look like they are 4DP TZ250 reeds... I guess it can't hurt to put these in!!!!!(?)
Yes, TZ reeds and stoppers set-up. They should work fine, though you should probably keep a closer eye on reed replacement schedules.
Thanks Warick! I'm putting it all back together tomorrow and with the new rubbers that should be the last engine related to-do. ;D ;D
All back together and they work. I need to spend some time setting up again though (without air leaks). Bike took a while to start on choke, died, started etc etc. When it got stable at about 1,200 rpm the left carb chimed in and whoops, up to 7,000 rpm :(
I'll reset idle and air screws tomorrow and have another go. When I can stop it going ape I'll set each carb up individually by taking a plug out etc etc. Just takes time but really unnerving for the banshee scream to kick in on idle. :-[
