Anyone interested in a South Coast TZR meet this summer?
About 5 of us down south (and thanks for your help!) I can think of. Of course our northern brethren (and thanks for your help!) all have their bikes sorted for a long trip in any case ;)
The classic bike location being accessible to London and the south coast being the A272 jct with A32 and if you've not ridden the A272 you really should consider it.
Here's a meet up point - https://goo.gl/maps/hohZbksmFaM58yyx8
Anyone interested? (Fairings optional)
Yeah Loomies is do-able from my house been there a couple of times.
Just need a reliable TZR to ride there on!
The modded RS has an mot next wed, jurys out on how its running till i ride it further.
And ive got to remove the carb heating circuit and swap out the carbs for a cleaned refurbed set ive got on the bench on the standard Bike, but in principle id be up for that at some point. (-P)
Working rides essential! Summer / late summer should see all of us that are going to be running the year on the road was my thinking. Probably a non-bank holiday Sunday in August or something.
I think Jamie is around Gosport, so the A32 will suit there, maybe others too. Ron is in W London I think. Just be good to take a look at the bikes in person and say Hi for those that fancy a reason to ride out!
Plus.... A272 is a really good bikers road, certainly the grounds of a TZR250 (-P)
Yup, I'd be up for that, mines also pending another mot once I get the electrical glitch sorted but haven't had a chance to look at it with the new battery and rectifier / regulator just yet.

Cool 8) I figured as summer appear we'll all get more UV encouragement to get the rides running and through MoTs. (-P)
Just up the road from me, a normal stop when pottering about lol.
However my bike is er 'playing up' fuck knows what's wrong but MOT very soon so it'll be ready in a month or so....
All southern members in the same boat then !

Mine will no doubt develop an issue that will need fixing too as I've only run it out twice so far, so I think second half of August may be a target. (-P)

I thought it should be close to you! Sounds like a trip to your well known local MC shop is required for MoT and tweak.
Whenever I go to loomies I'm normally the only two stroke never mind other bike makes lol.
Been going there for years, remember when it was a happy repeater sorry eater on my RD80LC, them were the days......
I've been there a few times on a two stroke (RG5) but that was when you could buy one from a showroom ;D
It would be good to get half a dozen of us there but any more than just one would be a right victory (-P)
Used to being the odd bike out at a bike meet / cafe. Historically whenever I've had ride to one of them I haven't seen another the same as the one I was on at the time. Not sure if the bike was the oddball or just me :-\

If we get Gavin, Jamie, me and you there, we'll all be odd ones out only to a small degree, as no two 3XVs are the same! ;D
What do you think guys.. August Sunday 8th or August Sunday 29th? Just to put a pin on the map?
Either really, suppose its weather dependant, can stay flexible (-P)
I'm flexible too. Renewed MOT yesterday and re-taxed so looking good (-P)
Won't mention the numpty that reversed into me in a traffic queue on the way home though >:( Fortunately no apparent damage ::)
I always think there will be at least one arsehole every time i go out, sometimes several, aa long as your actively looking for them ,you can evade them, but theres not alot you can do to avoid that! Incredible, lucky he didnt have you off.

Indeed. Traffic was backed up going through a 6'6", queue in front, queue behind, then the guy in front decided he was going to take a detour and take a right down a side turning and reversed into me.
He spoke the immortal words that I'm sure we have all heard ....
I'm sorry, I didn't see you !!!!!!
At least he stopped, was very apologetic and wanted to ensure there was no damage.

I took a car trip out into town Wednesday and counted 7 numpty moves, cyclists ignoring red lights and causing me to have to stop, cars randomly stopping to turning right at no right turn, I think the majority have forgotten how to drive through lack of practice. Hopefully by August Darwin will have weeded out those that won't get it!
I guess the horn worked though Ron, having checked it before heading to an MoT!!?

Agreed - let's aim for August 8th and see how everyone's bike is and what the weather is like.
How's that for you Jamie?
After last year's escapade and volumes of Dosh spent on my bike, it had to be something 'simple'.......and it was, very wet and dirty plugs, new ones due.....warmed her up to temp and very brief ride round the block, now to put fairing back on....
So my bike is a working example of this dinosaur 2 stroke
As for times, I'm free most weekends, the misses works nights so I'm free....

I treat EVERY other road user as a Muppet including dickhead bikers, while in taffic I'm overly safe but no one around the fun begins....
Im up for this if that's ok. Be good to put a face to some names. Haven't been to Loomies for a few years now and yes the A272 is an awesome road. The old bill love it as much as bikes do. There was an unmarked GSXR1000 doing the rounds for a while, but all that aside if the sun is shinning should be a good ride.
The more the merrier, this is looking great, I vaguely remember a picture of a line of tzr's at a meet once, it'll be amazing if we could have the same down here.......
.....a group of TZR'S a 'tazer' lol

Thanks for moving to the right place in the forum Warwick (-P)
Hi guys,
Just seen this as I've not been on for a while. I would love this.
It won't be on the tzr but may be able to get my 350 ypvs mot'd, else the DRZ400.
Anything puffing blue smoke (-P)
Will be great to meet up!
How many is that now?
Definitely 6 people - number of bikes is a moving picture!
Mine should be all running by August 8th, fingers crossed. At least I have a target
(-P) cool, i can always bring the standard RS if the modded bike is no better, that (standard)tends to behave its self alot better, ( at the moment)

Yeah ,theres always room for complete failure of something or other, id better keep shtum.
Yeah 11 fine by me (-P)
Yup, 11 sounds fine thanks. Will aim to be bringing blue smoke otherwise it will have to be the backup (-P)
Depending upon traffic and bottle (lol) I'm about 20 mins away......+/- a few......
Two clear weekends to get your bikes running right fellas.

One bike defo, other not so defo, either way i will be on a 3xv (-P) O0 lets hope its not so bloody hot!
Was out Friday afternoon and again this morning aiming to get a few miles on the engine after the rebuild.
Both times around the 50 mile round trip but this morning was a corker - Was on the road by 7am (up around 5 but didn't wish to upset the neighbours), it was already sunny but still cool and not a dozen cars on the road down the A roads / dual carriageways - oh joy 8) (-P)
How many miles is it to loomies from your place?

Andy, Jamie & Chippy - How's it looking for you guys? Me, Gavin & Ron look to be set or thereabouts.
Can you fucking believe it, hot damn hot BUT tomorrow rain damn rain the very day I've booked my MOT!!!! I hate riding in the wet nowadays, never mind 1 st rainy day straight after a hot spell, roads are gonna be slippery.....
She should pass, been out a few times and have been starting her up most evenings after work....
Insured £104, need tax after MOT then fully legal for another year....

It should be ok tomorrow and a little cooler on the South Coast - I think the rain is Saturday & Sunday. So, fingers crossed Jamie!

PS Don't let Warwick see this, he says "they don't dissolve in the rain" but us South Coast lads don't have to put up with that sort of weather!
For those joining us on Sunday the 8th, I will provide the bike 2 bike video :P
Yes I'll tweak the alignment up and there's a rear facing view too....
MOT passed, tax paid, all legal, all ready to go...... marvelous

Just offering up the bodywork for the first time, hopefully I have all the correct brackets. ???
Until now its running round without all the lowers whilst still tinkering with the carbs and checking for any potential oil and fluid leaks ::)

Really naffed off because despite all this care I must have missed getting into the threads on the the right lower / rear faring bolt and it fell out never to be seen gain. Stupid Chinese fairings you have to loosely fix first. I probably have something similar!
twist lock? ive got loads if you need one?
My entire lower fairing is cabled tied, wouldn't know what the right bolt looked like even if I saw one lol....that's the great thing about owning on of these not one is a 100% complete....

Understand where you're coming from, just managed to get home on the 3XV before an absolute deluge yesterday. Rain was gushing over the house gutters both back and front due to the amount of sudden rain. Good job I just missed it as I no longer run KR124's on a 250 road bike :o

Looking worse on my phone's weather app, all week is fairly good the weekend is WET!
However like Andy says we'll keep checking as we get closer to the day......

Still hopeful for Sunday. BBC long range forecast is showing weak high pressure ridge building and here's the all important rain predictions.
Of course, all this is subject to change as the weather pattern is not so predictable... but at this time - it's a go!

I have spent most of my working life getting up early I FUCKING HATE IT!!!!!!
I've worked nights, love it, go to bed after work get up under no pressure or alarm, but normal hours the alarm goes off, hit snooze 3 times then pull myself out of bed to meet all those Muppets on the road to work. 7 o'clock on any given Sunday I'm in my special place called dead to the world land of deep well needed SLEEP.

Interesting thing about this pic is it alludes to how the lower airbox is fed from the top airbox, hence why the top airbox *only* is different on an SP.... never noticed that.
Woke up this morning with Noah peering through the window..........
Hardest rain this week.......
Poxy forecast changes everytime i look at it, Thurs/Fri was saying sunday, dry ALL day then last night was saying wet ALL day, now its saying dry till 12! So its anyones guess, i reckon decide last thing this eve, as it will probably change again, p.i.t.a
Agreed - this weather is total wind up. Let's make a call tonight, I'm sure the forecast will change but in which direction I have no idea :o
Afternoon all. Up here in Kent its pissing down!!! Again. Its a good two hours to Loomies from me so weather is everything at the moment. And just checking forecast its not looking too hot. Just fired up the bike and itching to get out but Ill make a decision in the morning. If the forecast changes Ill head down, if not then Ill see how Rossi gets on with his last Austrian GP !!
Likewise on the 'check in the morning'. I think rainfall radars will be useful too. We were planning a day at the beach today but that obviously didn't happen.
Really hope it does stay clear.
Today's weather summary in South Hampshire, the closest to loomies:-
Morning till 10am, very heavy rain.....
10am till 2pm, light to heavy showers....
2pm till 5pm, light to heavy showers....
Tomorrow's forecast the same if not worse....
I propose a postponement until next Sunday....
Wet is not good to ride in even if meetings up is great.....
I agree, everything im seeing is saying rain, i can be there next Sunday, weathers much better next week, warming up from Wed (-P)
Yep, the low pressure that was predicted to move north and give the South Coast a welcome glimpse of summer hasn't shifted a bean - so tomorrow will be the same as today. Some of the showers today were biblical so chances of us getting caught are high (esp those with an hour or two hours to run). Shame as I only have two panels left to fit and was nearly ready >:(
Oh well, lets make the call now and reschedule.
I know Ron can't do much for the August Sunday's so let's see if we can fit in August.....
Gavin, Ron, Andy, Jamie & chippy - what days can you do in August. Saturday's or Sunday's?
I'll get the ball rolling.
I can do any Saturday or Sunday this August apart from Sunday 15th.
cant do sat 14th can do the 15th, then any sunday after that, could do 2 or 3 meets so if everyone cant do one given day we can still meet up. im still up for the 15th, any excuse to get the bike out, and with this shite weather feels like i havnt ridden much.
Can't do 14th (getting a campervan) most other times ok, misses works nights at weekends so I'm alone......
Sorry Guys.
I am at Cadwell Park next weekend, Castle Combe the weekend after and working Sunday 29th. ::)
Realistically Saturday 28th is currently my only free date unless I am able to bump something else.
Can I suggest you count me out for the time being if everyone else can all make another date? Apologies, my calendar isn't always this full but I do try to fit in as much as possible, life is too short not to.
No problem with a Saturday for me Ron. How's the 28th looking for everyone else?
I'm still carrying the crank seal oil leak but can limp to Loomies once to meet everyone for sure!

Im still up for the 15th if anyone can make it ? Then do another on the 28 th if all 6 can go?

Im on for the 28th. Just got my SPR fired up tonight. Let's hope its a dry day. Whats the plan? Meet up and ride somewhere I guess. Ive owned 3xv's for quite a few years now and never been out with another one so really looking forward to catching up. Also looking forward to the age dynamic of the owners!!!!!
Great! Yep the plan is meet up for 11am on the 28th, scoff some bacon butties til we have everyone, then head off on the A272. I have front/rear cam so hope to get some good shots of people passing me (I'm limping with the crank oil seal leak so won't be passing anyone)!
As the age demographic, no matter how much 2T brings back youth, I'm anticipating this... (great film btw)
Perfect. My walking stick won't put anyone off then
Lets hope the back/ hips/wrists/knees hold up :P The distance to loomies is well within my discomfort window, so should be all good 8)
Im 51 but a lifetime of manual work has made me look no older than 65.
51 nipper......
;D ...weather still holding up for this sunday ( 15th) ....at the moment.
Let us know what it's like and we'll see you both on Saturday 28th (-P)
(-P) 11 am Jamie?
Yep sounds good around that time
(-P) see you there weather still looks ok.
Sorry busy week. I can do the 28th as far as I can see.
I won't make it tomorrow, were going to Cornwall today for the week. Figured it'll be pretty quiet down that end of the country 😅.
I'll have to stay out of the way when the photos are taken or I might ruin the look you're going for agewise. I was born after the fall of the Berlin wall...
Ron's at Cadwell and this Sunday is the only weekend day I can't do (see previous)
Gavin and Jamie will do the sighting and we'll all meet at Loomies on the 28th - pencil this one in all (-P)

At least you don't have the bitter regret most of us do which goes something like this... "If only I'd have walked into the local dealership in 1985 and got a TZR/RGV/RG etc, I would have gotten change from £3k.. now that'll barely buy a 30 year old import that's been sat for 15 years" :-\
Will be great to meet up (-P)
Hope theres ethonol fee esso fuel near Loomies ! :o ;D
Sorry, the fuel station at loomies is BP.....check Google maps, nearest Esso is miles away...
Just got back from a cracking blast to Loomies, on some great roads, got wet as i left but turned out to be a nice day, bike ran absolutely brilliant, faultless in fact.
Great to meet Jamie and his bike (-P)
Plenty of bikes out today, good blast 8)
Yep great ride to and from loomies. And nice to meet gav and his bike. Weather was good for me no rain.
gav
simply cannot resize any photo, don't have Microsoft office, and don't trust any downloadable crap, just add a picture at the end of each post. cant seem to do it any other way on pc or phone.....

Yeah, guess mine at the Ace didn't really count. It wasn't yet registered at that point and so came out of the back of the van for the Blue Haze turn-out meeting.
Great turnout at Cadwell Park this weekend with a very varied assortment out on track, exotica and rare bikes abound. Here's a sample :o (-P)
Great pics guys! Can't wait for the 28th (-P) (-P) (-P)
Glad to see Loomies is still there too - so thanks both for the sighting lap!

Five 3XV and an RD last count - should be great ;D
Yup sorry for letting the team down. Just don't have the time to rebuild mine at the mo! The RD is a YPVS though atleast!
I can't wait to see and hear one in the flesh. I've still not even done that so I'm very excited at the thought of seeing 5 haha!

It'll be good to see an RD again Andy! Hopefully we can offer inspiration for your TZR (-P)
On the day after gav turned up there were only 4 strokers, our two tzr's and two kawa kh 250's, one standard one all speed piped up. Then an rd350lc popped in, white with old school allspeeds on.
It's a yam and it's the younger brother of the tzr don't worry.....the more the merrier....
Dare I say - weather's looking good for Saturday? :-X
Out for a blast today to to make sure bike runs ok. Looking forward to breakfast next week. Better not bloody rain !!!

Yeah Sat mate 11am ish (-P)
All looking good and the only thing I have to fit is the battery :))
I'll be running detuned Zeel maps as I have yet to solve the crank seal oil leak but can't win em all!

How was the footage from your GoPro by the way?
Unfortunately it's not a true GoPro, just a cheapy version, so ok footage but not great, looking for a far better one with greater wide angle and battery life then I'll try and upload or YouTube footage.....
Just for fun, my Dad spent some time with photoshop and edited out the gate in this pic.....

Well up for that. I don't think mine will be ready before spring next year though.
