Well that's just about done then, as I have said to others in's no show winner just a tidy and pretty well sorted bike now.
The new wheels make a massive visual difference the fact that they have all new bearings and seals is more important really. the brakes have all been fully stripped and what needed replacing was replaced including a new rear master cylinder which I bought off e bay for a fraction of what I was quoted for rebuild or genuine replacement. I also chucked out the old front disc which was not in great order and bought an EBC replacement for less than £140 delivered.
The carbs have been totally stripped, vapour blasted, sonic cleaned and all seals, O rings etc replaced as were all the rubber pipework. I also rebuilt the petcock with a new kit and now the bike does not stink of fuel for three days after I use it, threatening to blow half my house up!
A set of standard pipes came along on Facebook at just the right time for £150, a tidy up of the end cans and pipe respray was all that was needed, and no, they are not Arrow silencers, well I don't think so anyway, I bought the pipe stickers just to make it look a bit better with the yellow fitting in quite well with the paintwork
A good clean, new fork oil and gearbox oil will, I think put it better overall condition that it has been for years.
The shake down ride went well, the engine felt really good and with the standardish pipes is far more road friendly than the very nice sounding but nearly unrideable on the road YEC race pipes that came with the bike, )They are now up for sale for anyone who would like them for their race bike.
It in for it roadworthiness test on Friday so once that's done I can get it registered, I have a 250Y number plate ready to go on it and then its just waiting for the weather to improve a bit and start having some proper fun on it.
Nice, mine is not that tidy with a lot of ageing on the bodywork, with cracks in the "Yamaha" on the tank, but I do like the original look.
I have stock pipes, but have set of Martin Johnson road pipes coming next week, and will be replacing all the ignition / coils / PV controller with Ignitech to both optimize the power / torque and rule out odd issues with 40 year old electrical stuff.
ALso need to get wheels off for a spray, a previous owner thought black would look good for some reason, very odd, so planning to strip them right down, get them acid dipped and then painted back to gold.....
....The hopefully have a good summer season.
looks great. (-P) how are the aftermarket mufflers vs stock ones, as far as performance? just curious. (if you know) I know they will sound different.
Looks great! Congrats. So, this is a stock exhaust with Carbon Fiber silencers? How is the sound compared to the stock ones?

In a couple of months I should have a dyno comparison of stock pipes with Martin Johnson pipes, which will be interesting, also programable ignitech ignition and PV controller going on so might be able to spread the power a little bit wider with that hopefully.
