Has anyone had a problem with the top rad hose been rubbed through by the throttle tube. I am on my second rad hose now and I even wrapped the latest one with a load of insulation tape to try and protect it, but even that didn't protect it and the latest hose is nearly rubbed through also. Is on a 1 kt 250.
I've just taken a look at mine. The throttle cable (triple joint tube) is indeed in contact with the top hose but there is no noticable wear on the hose in the way that you have on yours. However, my tube passes the hose on the right hand side whereas it looks as though yours goes through the left. I have no idea which is right.
Hi- that must be annoying!
I've been riding my 1989 2XW2 model since 2011 and it's got the original Yamaha hose, with no sign of the throttle tube doing that sort of thing.
Maybe it's the throttle cable routing or perhaps the hose (looks silicon/aftermarket in the photos) is slightly differently shaped bringing it closer to the throttle tube?
If no-one else has any suggestions, I'll have a closer look under my tank next week. Bit difficult to get to the bike in the garage at the moment without moving a load of stuff.
ive had this on other bikes & cars. if its that close , use an old hose slit down the side as a cover for the new one. zip tie it on.
Hi Dave, it looks like a Samco hose you have ,I put these on the 2 1KT's I had with no problems even though the original ones were okay to use.
I used a cable tie to lift up the throttle tube away from the hose but not for the reason you have.
