Title: clutch holding tool
Post by: davewills4 on April 18, 2025, 09:42:13 AM
Hi all, is there anyone near me in Shropshire that has the clutch holding tool I could borrow, or is there another way to tighten and torque the clutch boss nut without the tool.
Cheers Dave

I have not tired this myself.

Use some old clutch plates from the bike. Fiber plate and metal drive plate. Drill a hole through the plates. Then bolt / hold them together.

Not sure the last step is absolutely needed. Might make it more solid / sturdy. Or just done to keep it together for later use.
I'd also use more than just one plate and use two fibers and driven. Or the entire clutch pack if you needed.

I have a generic clutch holding tool if you want to borrow it to try? I will be at the Stafford Show next weekend which is about 30 minutes from you I believe, let me know.

Hi thump566, thanks for the offer but I am not quite sure when I will start the job on the shift shaft, as the bike has developed another issue as in my other post. So I am not sure when I would be able to get your clutch tool back to you, but appreciate the offer. Cheers Dave

I bought one after trying to remove without it and broke the clutch basket - that was more expensive!
