Title: Oil pump adjustment
Post by: davewills4 on March 22, 2026, 10:24:39 PM
Hi, all is there any way to reduce the amount of oil  the pump delivers. Reason being my 250 1kt is smoking so much and the amount of oil in the exhaust is dripping out of the silencer over the rear brake disc and caliper. When cruising at over 8 thousand revs the cloud of 2 stoke smoke is crazy and never really clears. The pump was refurbished by the chap on the forum  a couple of years ago. Cheers Dave

Check this discussion.

The pump stroke is setup by a washer and adjust the thickness off the washer to get the correct piston stroke.

Thanks biggz, have removed 1 shim today reading the manual I  believe that would decrease the pump  stroke so reducing the amount of 2 stoke oil pumped,  did slide a feeler gauge as the pump moved up to the maximum whilst the engine was idling and seems to be within spec still. If I understand it correctly.

Please be very careful. The minimum stroke decreases with time, and you didn't say what thickness you took out?
The check valves can pass at any time in the future due to debris on the seats. This could be causing the issue.
