Yes, the motor becomes a bit higher maintenance of course, but it's not so bad if it's not used as a daily commuter to be honest. Still have all the bits, with fresh pistons etc., so I'll probably give it another roll sometime.

The one in the link Jim posted looks great. $9000 US is a lot of money for a twenty year old bike though... It's a shame, but the genuine enthusiasts and innovators are being priced out of the game, and increasingly such jewels end up in the hands of those who use them only as decoration and status symbols etc., rather than really riding and further developing them. It's a shame. No way I'd be buying in at this time. You can buy much more motorcycle for 9k...

You should look back through the old forum archives a bit more, Paul. Here's my 91 SP with 4DP top end, carbs, pipes, ignition etc.

i know, and i do.... sometimes. imagine having a wife you could just tell "i told you that last year and just before we got married, go back and sort it out for yourself", she would get bored and a little hacked off. some things are going to be mentioned more than once, sorry.
i like your bike warwick, looks neat.
i honestly had no idea the parts were compatible, there's ignorance for ya.

Are you saying you'd like to marry me, Paul? ;)  ;D

3XV crankcases are basically the exact same casting as the 90s TZ, so a TZ top-end conversion is pretty straightforward. I'd only want to do it with an SP crank in the bottom end myself though really. I'd imagine that a fully motor swap would work well too, but you get to a point where you have to decide if you really want a TZR or a TZ... For me, it's ultimately more interesting to try to drag the power out of the TZR motor I suppose.

That's tempting, you can fix and tune bikes, load and off load bikes, I'd need to taste your cooking and cleaning skills first!  :-*

I'm actually a little homophobic. Makes me uncomfortable.

I agree though. A TZ is a TZ and likewise with TZR's.
I am guilty with my NSR but I did buy it like that. And it has a strong crank...

Just noticed the guy has zero feedback. I wouldn't even think of going there.

That guy is on crack. For about half that you can get a proper 4DP. Why even bother with a non-titled TZR with that much TZstuff on it? That street stuff is just weighing it down. My guess is he got it and thought he could title it, but found out he couldn't. That kind of money necessitates a street title, not just a TZ/TZR hybrid with the stock TZR street junk on it. That bike makes my bike seem like the deal of the century.  :'(

Τhis was a damn good deal, even without any spares

Sadly, that's pretty common. 2T bikes, especially race bikes, are not easy to sell here in the States.
