The studies you quote there just underline the bullshit.

For me it's a huge dislike of retrospective tax and the adoption of corporate subscription motoring.

More than that though, this was going to be our traditional annual August Loomies meet, so it adds a little more purpose  :))

Anyone remember the 80's protest ride on the M25 against motorcycle leg protectors?

Sort of, I'd say. This is supposedly about making the air quality in London itself better I think as opposed to climate change but I couldn't resist throwing it in  ::).

Absolutely agree about the corporate subscription. I plan to always own my vehicles. If I can't afford it, I don't buy it.

Yeah it's a great place to meet and should be a good turn out. As I understand there is footy on it might even mean there's less football goons who bought a bike and more bikers. Wow that's judgemental  :-\!

I do NOT remember the 80's at all being born in 1990  :-X but that does sound fun. I magine it had this sort of vibe:

Nice to see a decent turn out. To me it's a chicken shit way of regulating old vehicles off the road. And everybody knows thier facts and math are way off. Numbers wise it makes very little difference to none. Freedoms eroded taken away turned into cash grab thrown in your face as environmental impact global warming etc. To try n shut you down to force thier agendas on you. Stacking the deck in thier favor.

It's like California's air regulation board aka carb. So glad we don't have that in my state. They regulate emissions.
Nation wide most vehicles and in most places here. After 25 years it doesn't have to be emissions compliance.

Now California's carb doesn't care it has to be compliant. So even though you can legally import a jdm bike. They won't let you register it for street use. They've even Started going after older vehicles and non compliant one's people thought were grand fathered in. This is something that they started doing recently these past couple years.

They have started enforcing the 17 digit vin compliance. Aftermarket exhaust systems must be carb approved or can't be sold within the state. And if you have say a jdm bike without a 17 digit vin. You can't register it.

I found video on YouTube from 2 years ago people testifying at the state capital. Over the vehicle compliance. This one poor guy was testifying that his one old diesel logging truck from 1969 should be exempt. They were after him over the 17 digit vin which wasn't a standard yet then.

That wasn't the big problem they had it was the engine. Guy had a compelling story gonna cost him his lively hood. If it goes outta commission. In the end the state / carb ruled against in favor of the vehicle compliance. Told the guy either buy a new truck or replace the engine with a newer compliant one. Which would have costed bout as much as a new truck.

Yet California can't figure out why more people are moving out of state vs to.
Carb also attacked dirt bikes orv's last year. By ending its red sticker program. Red sticker bikes where no compliant emissions bikes. Like crf450 yz450f mx bikes. That restricted the use of them at certain state parks. For part of the year usually summer months.

Now if it's not a green sticker carb approved bike. As of '22 they won't even let you register it if it's a non green sticker bike. Which very few models actually are. Mostly choked up 4 strokes like lil kids bikes. Non of the good bikes. Basically regulating them to track use only.

Even seen videos of guys out on popular canyon road rides in so cal. Law enforcement rolls into a popular stopping spot. Start checking for compliance exhaust systems and ticketing those who didn't. Even though they bought the exhaust before all the stupid compliance stuff started kicking in.

This ulez bs sounds like they took a look at carb play book. I hope this doesn't become a thing over here. California is the only state so far really hell bent on it. Even though most states look at CA as how to shoot one's self in the foot lately. They have to many taxes fees and regulations. Why businesses and people are leaving the state.

Unfortunately my state sometimes copies them. They keep threatening us with pay per mile bs here past couple years. But I don't believe they will regulation our old bikes outta existence here.

If they really cared about the environment they should be going after China and such places.

Preach on, Rick.

If we keep electing "progressives" we can only expect more of this intrusion on our freedoms.

California doesn't seem to realize that climate hysteria is actually a mental disorder.

Unfortunately, our current President agrees.

Brief, fleeting Glory. Which of itself cannot last, but while it does is the best game of all.

Seems to be a problem everywhere then Rick

The biggest thing I hate about all this is - it is retrospective. Retrospective to me means "broken promise" at best, or intentional entrapment at worst.

"Ah, did Sir enjoy his $20 steak? Perfect. Oh by the way, we will now charge you $5 a week for a month for that meal. We didn't tell you that when you sat down because we just made it up, to get more money"

The ULEZ stuff is a joke for sure. There's links between NOx and poor air quality, so ULEZ is brought in with "Euro Emissions Standards" as the cut over points. Thing is Euro3/4 etc was more concerned with co2 than NOx, so the majority of bikes that are "illegal" are actually compliant for NOx and you have to pay £175 to prove that you're being incorrectly charged.

As the facts and causality fall apart with the merest scrutiny the reasons keep changing.

co2? Ah, less bother than a cow fart, lets try another
NOx? Actually most bikes are fine here, lets try another
Pay per Mile? That's the direction.

Was at a recent bike get together and a guy said there is an underground movement where people are just taking the cameras. There are even videos on how to do it on you tube.
