New pipes are on and oh my ;D , it does sound rather racey.

Really sounds like a 250 GP bike from back in the day now 8) .

The vid I took makes it sound quiet for some reason - probably due to the iphone. It sounds glorious when you are near it - well to me anyway.

Click on this link to view the vid.

Writeup to follow. I will upload a vid of the oem pipes for comparison later.

It's on standard 230s at the moment but I should have a set of 240 and 250 jets turning up tomorrow. Will put he 250s in and see how it runs from there.

My new jets turned up today so I fitted the 250s and took it for a short run. It pulls very cleanly from low down without hesitation and sounds crazy as it comes on the pipe and at 7000rpm certainly seems to be snappier and freer revving with a bit more oomph, but it is the noise. It is a real pure 2T note that crackles and pops. Sounds amazing, and certainly gets people's attention!!!

Good stuff, Paul.   8)   When you had the cylinders off to be rebored, were all the port windows "blue-printed" & the cyl. head skimmed to bring the compression ratio up to what it should be?  ( Manual stock figure is 5.9 to 1 ).  I can't remember if they were or not .

On my old 2MA, when I checked the squish gap on the cyl. head it was 1.6 mm !  :o  Nowhere near the tuners recommended 1.0 - 0.8 mm.
Also, in both the cyl's, the steel liners had not been inserted accurately, which left the top edges of all the port windows in the liner approx. 1.0 mm lower than they should have been, creating a step in each port window between the alloy of the cylinder & the steel liner.  ::)

Once the above inaccuracies had been sorted out my bike was transformed, taking off like the proverbial scalded cat at 6-7 thou & still pulling
hard at an indicated 11 thou. in 6th, where as before the blue-printing work it was reluctant to rev past 10 thou. in 6th.

If they haven't been blue-printed, Martin77 Johnson's the man to get in touch with.  ;)  Quality workmanship & very competitive prices.  8)
The combination of blue-printing ( or even a light road tune ) & your new pipes will transform yours too.   :D
There's always f@*kin' somethin' !!

No mate, other than them being on a +1.5 it is a standard engine but does pull very well. Maybe I am just lucky as it goes alright.

I was on a big rideout a few weeks back and as always was the only 2T there. Done 258 miles and at one point my mate on his ZX-6R streetfighter decided to give it the beans next to me and we both went for it and up to 100 he just couldn't pass me. I did feel bad though as i hammered the TZR on that ride but it took it all in its stride.

I also have a spare zero rebore engine but will keep that standard. However, I am on the prowl for another set of barrels and will have them tinkered with to pep the old girl up a bit as and when.
