I got my Bobbyboy reproduction 3XV cowl finished last weekend. It has come out nice and the www.Bike-paint.co.uk paint was a good match once the lacquer went on. I haven't had so much fun with aerosols since adolescence.

The reproduction sticker from James (Snittle) looks the biz and was significantly less than the £33 Yamaha wanted for their version. (James PM me your Paypal address as I still need to pay you)

It is all mounted on a cut down pukka pillion seat I got for £10 so I can still stick my chain in the "boot/trunk" and lock the bike up if/when it breaks down  ;)

The pillion pegs came off easily (3xv1-2 workshop manual, p61/314, Section 3.4) and you don't need to split the rear panels as you can ease them out of the way to get the rear pegs off.

Loosing the pillion pegs saved 575g and the new cowl/base combo is 85g lighter than the genuine pillion seat. I have calculated the 660g saving will either add 0.12mph onto my top speed or allow me to eat more pies and keep the top end the same  :P

Most importantly it looks like it goes faster which was undeniably why I wanted to do it.
