I have just removed the carbs and as they have been full of stale fuel for two years mainly due to a combination of me being too busy and both drain screws beeing mullered
by previous owner/s.My local bike shop will strip them ready for ultrasonic cleaning and don't think they wl have any bits on the shelf so I thought I'd supply them with any items they may require. What do you advise I'm quite new to this bike,

Mick

Buy genuine gaskets, don't think I've seen any pattern Carb kits for 2ma/1kt

I use genuine yamaha parts, you only really need the float bowl gaskets (2), one for each carb.£5.95 each.
It may also be a good idea to buy the float valve needle assembly (2) if the ones you have are old/leaking/worn.£12.95 each.

Both items available from yambits.

Parts arrived yesterday all genuine, now do I buy a cheap ultrasonic cleaner and the appropriate liquid or take them to my bike shop? Keep you posted.

I bought a ultrasonic cleaner for around £80 off ebay 5 years ago specifically to do my 1kt carbs.

You have to measure the dimensions of the carb body with the float bowl and throttle slide removed  and then search for a ultrasonic cleaner that has at least the TANK DIMENSIONS of the carb size and NOT the overall cleaner dimensions so the carb will fit in.

You can also clean the float bowl etc. with the carb or do it separately.
