Hi all, when adjusting the steering head do you have to remove everything the workshop manual suggests   or can you just slacken handlebars  and crown nut and tighten or slacken the ring nut whilst front wheel and everything is in place ? Cheers Dave

It's probably best to remove the triple clamp? Otherwise you wont be able to get the correct torque on the slotted ring nut.

I have done it that way with other cycles.

Not sure about the earlier models, but the 3XV has a washer with a tab that goes into both notches of the locking nuts, so the top triple needs to be removed in order to tighten the locking nuts.
