Hi Jody;

Agree with Louis the 30mm carbs are easier to setup. With a 3ma you need to keep the same model stuff together for ease of use. If you start mixing and matching it just takes a lot of time and work to get it running properly.

QuoteSo thought that perhaps in the past the 3MA-10 cylinders where broken and a set off 3MA-20 is found/mounted
Louis - is it not a -20 crankshaft ?  ?:-|

Coming along nicely! Can i ask what you did to refinish the bottom yoke? Is that an anodised finish on there Im not sure? its like a shiny almost chrome like surface on mine..

jodydid

It's a std 3ma1 yoke my usd front end was trash I had to grind off the corrosion to get the forks out then found a yoke set on eBay and some forks from a seller on here as std it's a lacquered alloy finish

No, it looks like its a normal 3MA3/5 crank
But you don't need a 3MA-20 crankshaft to use the 3MA-20 cylinders?
They just fit on any 3MA engine

What is the difference between a 3ma3/5 crank and a 3ma4 crank? Are any of the bits interchangeable?

Dan

Louis

Very sharp seen, glad that I sad 'looks like'' rather then ''it is''

I'm missing the cut out from a 3MA3/5 crank, so this looks ;) like its a SP crank.
This in combination with the SP cylinders
It could be that it was a SP engine with removed dry clutch

Still its guessing ;D

Hello Dan,

Don't know to say this in correct English.

Belief they called it ''the web''? (is build stronger)
The whole crank is build stronger and stiffer (to prevent bending and/or vibrating)

Don't know what could be interchangeable. (Its a completely different crank)
Bearings seals perhaps

I've never seen a 3ma3/5 crank that's the issue haha. The one in my sp looks like the pictures hugo posted above. Thanks Louis.

Hugo,

The bottom picture was the crank on ebay wasn't it. Were you the lucky winner of it by any chance? I was a day or so away from buying it lol!

complete crank can be used in all engines - bearing and oilseal are same.
You are not adviced to use only part of the -4 into the 2 other types...
(apart from conrods)

wonder were the dry clutch transmission cover are - Louis..??

the comparison pichture are from ebay  :) and no - we were only looking..
as we are working a different road  ;)

ps: rotor are the same in -3-4-5 but not in -1 so you need the complet ignition system if you consider transforming from -1 to the other types.

I need to keep an eye out for some dry clutch bits

;D

It could be, who knows. :)
Bought two dry clutch sets trough the years (when they where affordable)

But still looking for one more ;), as the rattling sound belongs to a racer 8)
