Ha ha, didn't read the ad thoroughly enough, didn't see the bit about the water/seizure! Maybe NOT such a good project for someone then lol!  :o

Wow. I'd be interested to discover how much time and money it takes to resurrect this bike, Gavin.

That said, It could be that the buyer will just break it, clean it and sell the parts.

Brief, fleeting Glory. Which of itself cannot last, but while it does is the best game of all.

bulldogboy

You may well be right, but perhaps the parts may be devalued by their poor condition?
We may well see the buyer on here at some point if hes going to try and restore it, but he had better have deep pockets if thats his plan!
Just shows you what even a wrecked 3xv is worth now.

I bought like damn 10 years ago. This nsr250 mc21 locally to me that did not run in similar condition for $2500. Guy who owned had it for awhile had like zero mechanical skills so luckily it just sat during his ownership.

It was an ex track bike from Nor Cal. It definitely had been wrecked. I replaced a lot of stuff on it. Luckily stuff was still cheaper on yahoo back then. I think I had about 5K into the bike and it wasn't totally finished. I traded it locally for my SPR.

So you got an SPR for 7500 k , good going (-P)

No I had about 5k total into it so even better.  >:D a couple years before that we traded a well used 88 Honda hawk gt650 my friend had owned for years. It had like 34k miles on it. Traded it for a 88 KR-1 250.

With his money and my yahoo account have almost enough for 2 bikes. Right now he's working on a bit of an over the top resto of what is mostly a kr1s.

Some 2XT parts from Yahoo this week up for sale
Cylinders, cases, wheels.....
I don't have one, but was under the impression this was a one year only bike...bigger reed cage openings, extra intake ports, wider wheels?

This is a very trusted seller who ships world wide.

3LC tz250 on yahoo. Thoughts in this condition? I've always wanted a reverse cylinder TZ...

I'm in the middle of building a 3LC. Looking at that one, i'd expect at least one side of the engine to be knackered. The pipes rust and the rust runs down into the cylinder. Same goes for moisture. One of the cranks is likely to toast. Gearbox may be corrosion damaged too with how long it's looked to have been stood.

Rebuilding the cranks is very cost heavy with parts these days. You're in for about £550 for the main crank bearings alone. Not including big end bearings and replacement rods.

Expect to need to spend around £3k on the engine alone to get it right.

Sorry to be pessimistic! But it would require alot of money spent. There are lots of hard to find parts on these. Many one offs on the chassis too like suspension bolts etc, bearings. Again, all hard to find!
