I'm in the middle of building a 3LC. Looking at that one, i'd expect at least one side of the engine to be knackered. The pipes rust and the rust runs down into the cylinder. Same goes for moisture. One of the cranks is likely to toast. Gearbox may be corrosion damaged too with how long it's looked to have been stood.

Rebuilding the cranks is very cost heavy with parts these days. You're in for about £550 for the main crank bearings alone. Not including big end bearings and replacement rods.

Expect to need to spend around £3k on the engine alone to get it right.

Sorry to be pessimistic! But it would require alot of money spent. There are lots of hard to find parts on these. Many one offs on the chassis too like suspension bolts etc, bearings. Again, all hard to find!

These project bikes are always more appealing to me than one that's ready to race as theyre usually half the price, I tend to not think too far ahead about ongoing costs, parts availability etc 

You're right though, in the long run it's almost always cheaper to find something that doesn't need a full rebuild or is missing a million parts.

I'm curious whether or not this is a restoration project... Some scuffs and small amount of corrosion on some brackets which makes me think original but you just do not see old bikes look this clean.

Looks to be mostly original I don't remember it having the SP radiator? I know the 93/4 were updated to be more SP like.

Same as my bike, when i click that link i get the same message i posted earlier, saying uk cant access yahoo or whatever? Wouldnt mind following that. The 94 RS did not have the SP rad, although its a nice upgrade! Whats it on for? Mines been for sale for 11 k since before christmas, no takers.

Found it on yahoo, its got an SPR tank, and  an SP seat cowl, like the SP rad not standard, looks to have had the oil solenoids and clocks removed, and its got the wrong cdi, prob running premix, mine was when i got it, it'll be interesting to see what it goes for.

Noticed that earlier, says its all there so would be a shame to sell as parts, definitely a winter project not weekend fix.

Yeah weird , i saw that 3 yen. It had a few bits missing, would have been interested to see what it went for.

100K yen for a nice SPR tank  Only a nice MC28 tank fetches more...
