Hi,

I am looking to get some opinions on the value of my 1987 TZR I'm considering selling it to move onto another project its a 1987 2MA Canadian Bike with 5,437 KM totally redone not a crack in any of the fairings, fresh paint, OEM reproduction decals, aftermarket pipes Jim Lomas silencers, ported and polished, race rear brake relocation, Ohlin shock with fresh rebuild, Steering stabilizer, new battery, extra fairings though not in the best shape and many extra gaskets and odds and ends. Currently runs on premix but have the parts to put it back on oil injection. I was thinking somewhere in the $6000-7000CND range is this too much or not enough? they are a rare bike in Canada.

Thanks James

$6000 CND works out at £3700 which by looking at the 1 photo and your description and the rarity of it,you may achieve that amount.
$7000 CND works out at £4300 which may be too much.
It is only worth what people are prepared to pay,a case of supply and demand.
You don't mention if the engine has been completely stripped and rebuilt with new crank seals and other seals etc.
If it has not, this would add a substantial sum to your selling price to any potential buyer who would most likely offer you quite a bit less to strip and rebuild the engine.
If it has been done, then receipts for the parts/rebuild would be of interest to any buyer.

Good luck with the sale.

you are correct about, it's only worth what someone will pay. Thanks for your input not sure what im going to do yet, just don't want to give it away its been a great bike and lots of work to get it to this shape. If anyone else has some input as well, it would be appreciated. Here is another Pic.

Thanks James

I built my second 1kt last year out of a pile of bits I had acquired over 11 years.
Every part was either stripped and cleaned/powder coated or replaced(fasteners mainly) then rebuilt with new seals/gaskets for the engine and new electrical parts(ypvs box/cdi box/powervalve motor/reg-rec/ht coil/battery and various cables.
It took me 4 months from start to finish doing a bit mostly weekdays.

Here's a link to one of my previous posts showing both my 1kt's and the rebuilt one in my kitchen just prior to taking it into my back yard ready for its first start-up.

very nice lots of work involved. The Bike I am doing now is a 75 Suzuki GT550 got it free and slowly working away on it. All new seals gaskets pistons Crank redone Im shooting for Modern suspension cafe style. I love the look of the GT engines in a naked frame

I think in the current Canadian/Ontario market, it's probably worth about $4,000... maybe $4,500.
There's not a big market for them, unless you're trying to sell to the vintage race guys.

Was it a race/ track bike?  Seems to have all the right go fast parts & spares.  If it were me I'd put it back all the stock stuff and sell off the rest.
That would probably get you close to $6k.
If you do, dibs on the pipes and steering stabilizer  ;D

I agree with teezer250 it is the price we see in europe !

I wish you guys were right... I'd clean mine up and sell it for that. Well, maybe not.
I've seen 3xv and NSR250 mc21 between $5 - $7k.

I have a huge soft spot for the GT550 engine too. If I wasn't working on the TRX, I'd be on the lookout for one to do something like this:

That is what I am going to shoot for with the GT550. I can't decide on modern wheels or keep the spokes and go with supermotard wheels still in the engine rebuild faze, so I have time.
