I just need to make sure I hide to receipts for the parts  ;D
The fairings that were with the bike were half 3XV and half 3MA3 panels so if someone needs two side panels and the centre triangle for a silky white 3MA-3 let me know. I also scored some other parts today, a second set of Ox Racing rearsets, spare SPR rad, TZ style plastic tray for around the carbs and catch bottles, spare sprocket carrier and four rear and one front sprocket.
See you tomorrow Jools

I couldn't help myself last night and had to have a look inside the motor. The crank is perfect and no signs of moisture anywhere. I am going to fit new seals and reuse as is. The barrels are good also, the cross hatching is still there and the plating is sound. It had SP pistons fitted so they will be replaced with TZ ones and kept for reuse as they are perfect. The only problem I had was with the head studs, the SPR uses bolts like the TZ instead of studs and nuts on top like the other 3XV models. This also means it suffers from the same problems as the TZ with the studs shearing off. I got them all out except one that sheared with no pressure applied. Normally in this situation I just build up the remaining bolt piece with weld and the heat transfer takes care of the rest just grab with a vice grips and out it comes, not this bolt. I couldn't even drill it so after two hours I went home  :'( This morning I had another go armed with some kick ass drill bits and got it drilled  >:D.

So thats why I didn't see ya at the track yesterday  ;D ;D

I meant to see if you wanted a spare pass i had but I forgot with all the busy to and fro ing.

Thanks again for the help Saturday. Got some dyno time booked with the 2MA F3 to set it up or identify the problem.

The 3XV was singing, especially after i dropped the needles a clip. i think the pilots are a size too rich as well.

May stick her on the dyno just for a test run while I'm there as I'll be interested to see what she puts out now.

What dyno are you going to use?. I just got back from the track now and we were lucky with the rain until 2.30pm when it came down lightly everyone was on slicks which was ok because it wasn't too wet but they had the yellow flags out and the muppets were doing about 20kph around the track. Result all the heat went out of the tyres, cold slicks and wet track  >:(

jools

Ah thats right your track day -  sorry I forgot about that  :o

Its a guy I know that has a dyno in his shed, but he is a bit cagey about what he does with it and who he will let use it !
Mad professor type that dummy spits easily...........I'm lucky he's still talking to me, but then I never hassled him and use to pop around for social visits.

you should install one in your workshop - he made his own not sure which software he uses, its not dynojet.

Secret tuning shop, I like it. I can't really take up any more space with bike related stuff or I won't be able to do any work in here  ;D. Mind you I did build the rolling road that I could adapt.
I got the bottom end of the motor back together now with new crank seals and gaskets. I need to get new O rings for the head and make sure that the base gaskets are the same as the other models as I have spares and TZ O rings there. I need new head studs for sure. I stripped the forks and will drop them off for rechroming tomorrow. I had to make a few more tools for the job but that's ok.
I have new TZ pistons there also so all is looking good. I also found a buyer for the 3MA panels so they are gone also I just hope the TZ stuff fits without too much hammering .

True but as anyone that's been to my shop will tell you Jools I have a lot of small items and together they take up a lot of space. I got a 20ft container thinking yea that's the answer, now I cant get in the door  :D. Its going to be some deceased estate sale here when the time comes  8)

The top end parts I need are the same part numbers as the 4DP which is handy as I bought a few spares the last time round. I just need to order some head studs.

Does anyone know where I can get a digital water temp guage for the TZ. One that plugs into the top of the rad is what I want. I was thinking of trying a go kart shop and see what they have.
