Well it is Manx Grand Prix fortnight here on the sunny Isle of Man, we have been invaded by bikes of all makes and models including more two strokes than you shake a stick at........so life should be good right?
I would love to spend a bit more time enjoying it but work is manic and nothing stops just because of the Grand Prix, in fact it just makes my job a bit more difficult.. but thats why I moved here.

I have also managed to find a bit of time to look at my Problematic 2MA, we found the following:-
A knackered joint on the powervalve, so in effect only the left hand side was working, god knows what the right hand side was doing?
No air filter or screws in the air box, so we installed a new filter and got some screws to bolt the top on. We did start it and it sounded a whole lot different, I did not ride it so the jury is still out on that issue.

The bike is now on the bench with it's top end off, it was not an easy job due to the fact that absolutely every nut and bolt was done up to maximum tourque, every one loosened with a crack...if the indeed did loosen off...the others needed an impact driver, some needed a chisel, and one needed slotting to get enough purchase on it. But its all off now anyway.

We have made a repair of the PV Jointy bit and are hopeful it will be OK, a new one will be ordered for a proper winter rebuild.

The gaskets were pretty knackered, so I am going to have to order a new set, I am tempted to go pattern in the short term as I am going to be pulling it all down again in the pretty near future, unless I hear that it is a really bad idea.

One question, or really a conformation, I recal when I race my first TZR the head bolts torque setting were 19Nm, do I recall correctly?

Apart from that I am pretty keen to get it back together and possibly join in with the other two strokes that are currently on the Island and see how the bike performs now with my current race pipes before I get my new ones from Martin...which I am sure will tranform it....No pressure Martin ;)

I'm using pattern head gasket with loctite 3020 coating (in spray) without problem (track bike but slow rider  ;) )

I also over torque the head bolts. OEM is 22Nm and i set to 25Nm.

Thanks for that info, I can live with 25Nm, is was ridiculous having ever bolt done up that tight, I am pretty lucky that there was no thread damage.

I've started the pipes.. mostly waiting for a consignment of flanges to arrive.

A fixed pv joint and better carburation will improve thing enormously, let alone my road pipes later. It'll be like riding a 4 stroke! ..... ish....

Wilf

How do you survive without a bit of flange?
??? :P ;)

Bike back together now, just a bloody leaky fuel tank to try and sort out now, hopefully bodged it this evening and fingers crossed it will be ok in the morning

Funny you ask, albeit a couple of months ago but that is fairly recent for me.
The TZR has got dropped down the list due to acquirement of other bikes and only having one work bench, said bench has been blocked by a fairly comprehensive NS400R rebuild, which is now complete.
The TZR is now on the bench and was further stripped down only yesterday, so you could say "I'm back"!
Currently, I have been tidying up Martins Pipes and will be offering them up soon to see if they need any tweaking before sending them off for Ceracoting. The main issue then will be the carb rebuild which is a fairly major part of the performance loss and is going to eat the pennies unless I can find replacements for the tired and hard rubber pipes.
