Hi Can anyone help?
Does any of you fine gentleman have the correct procedure for setting up the PVs, mine went back together Ok but I'm unsure what the correct adjustment of the cables I just connected them, I took the cables right out when I took the engine out for the second time after my gearbox seal leak.
The problem I'm seeing is that the cable tries to jump off the guide on the servo motor, and when I tighten up the loose cable the servo wont reach its stops.
I have new cables fitted and it worked fine before I took it apart....!!
I'm at a loss with the Japanese manual.
Thanks

Hi Jasper, i see no one has replied.Ive just done this, BUT on a 3xv, i just replied to someone asking how to set up a 3xv, check it out it may be of use, i know zilch about the 3ma, but the 3xv has a hole in the cylinder to take a 4mm drill bit, to align the linkage plate. Are your cables routed the right way around the spool on the servo?  Did you put the cables back on the right way round?  On the 3xv one is longer than the other. The cdi will always start and return to the same position, the adjustment is in the cables.

Hi

First you need to have cables in the right position they are marked on PV motor and on the casing where they attach to the PV on the barrel. Switch on the bike let them cycle. Then you allign or set them the plastic unit where the cables hook into that is attach to the pv has an arm that needs to lign up with a hole in the barrel. If that makes sense. You can use a drill bit or allen key to lign it up 5mm.

Edd I did what you said and set the arm in line with the hole in the barrel, connected the cables 1 to 1 and 2 to 2 took out the slack with the adjusters. I then cycled the ignition and when that was done I checked to see if the arm was still in line with the hole it was out by about 5mm is this right?

Should return to the same starting point inline with the hole, if its not you need to slightly adjust the cables again, keep cycling the servo and slightly adjusting until it returns inline with the hole. It may be that the cable that pulls it back towards the hole just has a little too much slack, or the other is too tight not allowing it to move back inline, or a combination of the 2! sounds like your nearly there, just a tweak needed.

Thanks for that ill keep adjusting  (-P)

Hi Guys

All 3ma's, do there power valves cleaning cycle when turned on ignition.
After that cycles they stay open.
Its the only way to setup the pv's (lining the notch agenst the hole)

A 3ma1 (00cdi) when engine runs
The pv are open at around 3000rpm then closes and start to open at 6500rpm till fully open at 8500rpm

A 3ma1 (01cdi) When engine runs
The pv goes from open to close at idle and then opens from about 6500rpm till 8500rpm

A3ma3
Hase the same cycles as a 3ma01 cdi
