I thought the splitter to carb hoses were 8mm? Either way, it's the same id hose for both so just check the id of the other one? Short hose from splitter to tank is bigger though -10mm I think?

Suzuki fuel hose (part # 09354-70113-600) is enough to replace all the fuel line pieces. It's a bit of a fiddle muscling it over the large side of the T-piece but once in place it's good. Works well with the RGV fuel tap as well  ;)

Thanks guys. Warwick, you're right, the splitter is 10mm and 8mm OD. The problem is and maybe I'm just fussy but the hose (generic hose not OEM) just slips over the splitter too easily and would need a big ugly hose clamp to secure it safely. I hate hose clamps (jubilee clamps I think you lads call them?). Anyway it seems Yamaha didn't want to use a nominal size for the fuel lines and went for something in between. Just to be different  ;D

I measured the ID of the old original fuel lines and they are indeed 7mm, so after searching the Suzuki part number Karel provided I finally have something I can use. Thanks Karel.

Building this bike has been a piece of cake up until this bloody fuel line ordeal, who would have thought! ::)

Yeah, it's so often the little things that cause unexpected hassles and hold ups, isn't it? I can't help hoarding all the hoses, clips etc. I ever remove when stripping anything. Rooting through the resulting  hoses, clips and random brackets box saves the day often enough for it to earn its storage space.  :))

The suzki pipe looks exactly like the new 3xv OEM fuel line I bought except the Suzuki one comes in a 600mm length and is much cheaper..

If you want to refresh all the carb hoses then you can use the following:

Float bowl overflow pipe (pink) 09352-20503-600
Float bowl overflow pipe (black) 09351-20503-600
Carb breather pipe (pink) 13684-33111
Carb float bowl joint to carb body pipe (black) 09352-30503-600

Motion Pro  carries most of the lines I would think. It is always hit or miss on clamps due to the lines that you find to work for the project. I like the little spring clamps or whatever they call them.

Gooch

Spring band clamps or spring wire clamps are the two usual types.  There's a butt ton of kits all over Amazon, I bought one of each and could probably replumb a couple bikes completely.
Rough but running...

Took the bike for its first quick ride yesterday.  Quickly dummied up some temporary body work so it at least appeared semi-legal and then spun a few laps around the industrial estate.

Engine feels very strong, I forgot how good the midrange is on these things. It's mostly in standard tune at the moment besides the SP spec cylinders.

One thing I'm not loving is the seat. Like most 3XVs I see the fabric is worn so smooth it almost has a shine to it! Felt a bit slippery around the bends.

Has anyone successfully recovered their seat? Should there be a texture to the vinyl or did they just come out with that smooth finish from factory?

I'm knitpicking again but these small things bother me for some reason  ?:-|

I did, it is leather from a interieur specialist..

Few odds and end today. Started rebuilding the rear caliper — halfway through I realised it would have been much easier and cost no more if I had just bought a brand new aftermarket caliper that they sell on yahoo. Still might go that route after seeing how much rust was inside the caliper.

Removed both wheels so I can get the new rubber fitted on Monday. Gave the wheels a good scrub whilst I was at it. Considering repainting the wheels, the wash I gave them revealed a lot of battle scars.

Then drilled out the mounting holes on the TZ sprocket and mounted it on the hub.

Checked both axles for straightness and called it a day.

Nice relaxing day in the shop  :)

Can anyone confirm if these are SP exhaust flanges or R? Seller says SP, but shouldn't the duct shape be oval and not round if they're SP?

yanw

There are some adaptor plates that fit to the cast iron "factory" adaptor plates (barrel, cast iron plate, fancy alloy plate, pipes) and these have me suspicious.

These were advertised as 91R Jackals a while back on eBay (now sold) but hope this helps identify yours?
Forever a student attempting to learn from the Mentors.

They're SP flanges but have been modified to suit R barrels. Very common.
